Take a good look at this picture:

These are touted as TRANSITIONAL FOSSILS OF HOMINID SKULLS.

But aside from the fact that they are staged, posed, and otherwise manipulated for viewing, I have a simple question:

How do we know these skulls are in chronological order?

Do you have some reason to doubt that they were correctly dated?
They look staged and posed to me.

Especially with that bluing on D and F.

You think the colour of the plasticine used to hold fragments together indicates a dubious age?

That's tenuous even for you!

By dating the rock layers they are found in.

Of course not.

I do think those skulls were "doctored" though.

How do you think they were doctored?
So far, KTS and Bungle Bear are the only ones who have answered this challenge.

It's a simple how-do-you-know question.

I'd rather stay out of the picture.

What I think doesn't matter.

One may be able to make a similar display with
contemporary anatomy.

Well it obviously does because you believe that we shouldn't trust the images and that the pictures are doctored, but have not once said why or how.

Rocks don't have dates.

Yes they do.

We can measure how long rocks have been solid for (rather than liquid such as magma) by measuring the relative amounts of radioactive isotopes. And since there are several techniques with overlapping ranges, we can use one technique as a check against another technique.

Of course, if you think that this process is flawed, please describe in detail why it is flawed.

How did you miss my post? Not like it got buried in a big thread, and there were several hours, so it's not like you posted just a few seconds after I did...

I am saying that becasue most fossils and the geologic column are
composed of sedimentary rock layers, that is, layers of sand and silt,
your proposed methodology is worthless.

If somebody wants to know when a rock was formed....so what?
Rocks don't form, turn to sand, then sprinkle out over the land
like fairy dust encapsulating potential fossils in the mix.
