My Best Friend

This is honestly my ONLY attempt at writing poetry. I have never written another one before or since. Anyway, I wrote this for my best friend, but hopefully you guys will all like it.

My Best Friend

How could I ask for a better friend?
You've always been all that I need.
I will trust you with all that I am,
I will follow wherever you lead.
When I am anxious you are there;
Your smile, it warms up my heart.
You know that I love the time we're together.
You know we are rarely apart.

You know my thoughts,
you know my dreams.
We're not sisters
but that's the way it seems.
'Cause you know who I am,
know what I need.
And when I need to talk
you're always there.
When I have a problem
You always care.

You'll always be there 'till the end.
You're my best friend.​

That is a very sweet first attempt at poetry. I hope your friend enjoys it as much as I did! Keep writing.

I'm really much more of a narrative writer than a poet (I've been told it's because I like taking a lot of time to explain things). And my friend read it at her sweet sixteen, so I'd say she enjoyed it.

I thought it was cool, and if I could get away with using girly words like "sweet" or "touching" I would use them to describe this too. But for now I'll stick with "Cool"

i love this poem. it makes me think of my best friend, who's been there for me through thick and thin for the past 3 1/2 years. i think a lot of people who have best friends can connect very well to this poem. again, it was great!
