  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Harvard biological anthropologist Wrangham dates the breakthrough in human evolution to a moment 1.8 million years ago, when, he conjectures, our forebears tamed fire and began cooking.

Are you saying that if a generation of chimps tamed fire and ate cooked food that they would give birth to modern humans?

I am not saying anything, the question is what are the evolutionists saying.
Your suppose to be an expert on the subject you tell me.

The evolutionists are saying that the physical differences between chimps and humans is due to the DNA sequence differences between their genomes.

Do you accept this or not?

I bet those chimps would listen to Dean Ornish though.

Kim Johnson gives you the chimp salute at the Onyate man dig site. ;)

Before we discuss time spans we have to agree on a much more fundamental concept.

Do you think that the physical differences between humans and chimps is due to a difference in the DNA sequence of their respective genomes?
if you have an argument, then present it.
What do you mean by this?
lab results would be the best choice, but a computer simulation that accurately models the processes and laws involved will suffice.

Even though evolutionists agree in principle they still do not agreed upon the specific details. I am a glutton for detail.

It would appear, your knowledge of the detail behind evolution is lacking, so this statement is a bit meaningless.

I am presenting it. Please answer this question so that I know we are starting from the same position.

Computer simulation of what?

Deliberate attempt at avoiding the question.

If you are incapable of describing what you are looking for, I really can't help you.

i'm just flat out tired of repeating myself because you fail you either not read it, or not understand it.

Could you be so kind as to give me the number of the post where this explanation lies?

added in edit: I've gone back and read all of your posts in this thread, and I don't see any attempt at answering the question I have been posing.

Just in case the flogged horse is still alive, yet another quotation from John Maynard Smith.

"What was the language organ doing before it acquired its present function?

The question may not be unanswerable. The best chance may lie in genetic analysis. The Canadian linguist Myrna Gopnik has identified one human gene which, if mutated, causes a limited but specific deficiency in grammatical competence.3 There is a real chance that genetic analysis will, in time, reveal the nature and origin of the human language organ, just as it is already revealing how animal form appears during embryological development."
http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/1995/nov/30/genes-memes-minds/

It sure looks like John Maynard Smith thinks that it is our genome that gives rise to language. Combined with the earlier statements, it is quite apparent that John Maynard Smith thinks that human intelligence and use of language evolved through the accumulation of mutations and natural selection.

Do you think the cure for my lack of knowledge is more indoctrination to the party line or more brain washing?
