So the King James is not correct? How so? Have you looked up the Greek word "beside"?

I really don't even know where you are going with this. Is it supposed to be some sort of blot on the Christian faith or something? Them describing how people reacted to Jesus' miracles and preaching? If anything it makes the truth more solid.

I'm not intending to go anywhere with it particularly...I'm simply responding to dad's and AV's and your stupid nonsense that starts at about post #53....it was you guys, dad in particular, who introduced the whole 'biblical inerrancy' thing.....

Parts of it, yes...........the thing has been edited, re-translated, added to, taken away from, to various degrees, from the 1st Century until the present...!

For Pete's sake, its your bloody book and yet you seem to know very little about it....!
I know God gave it. He PROMISED to help them get it right. It is clear that Jesus is who He is in all the gospels and everywhere else. No little tweak for clarity hurt it! Do you know why they may have touched up a few verses? Could it be because they had new info from Mark, or someone that knew him, or etc etc? Why doubt?
Improved...? IMPROVED...?? I thought this thing was supposed to be the "perfect" word of a god............WHY would it need any improvement.....!?
Easy...sometimes meanings change and to avoid the wrong idea, we might find that explaining better what was meant could be useful. There is no need to harp on some verse, do you know how many times Jesus is called son of man in the New Testament!!!!?

"It is not common to hear Jesus referred to as the Son of Man in Christian churches today, however this usage in the Bible is frequent. In the New Testament, the phrase is used eighty-three times. Most often, it is used by Jesus to refer to Himself in the third person and seems to have been his favorite title for himself."

Delve Into Jesus : Articles : Why Is Jesus Called the 'Son of Man?'

We need not look to some obscure verse for the overwhelming truths of Scripture!!!

Ahem....

. 21 When His own [j]people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, “He has lost His senses.” New American

21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” English Standard

When His family heard this, they set out to restrain Him, because they said, “He’s out of His mind.” Holman Christian Standard

21 But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.” New King James

21 And when his kinsmen had heard, they went out to hold him; for they said, That he is turned into madness. Wycliffe

Shall I go on.....?

Of course, here's the one that you prefer.....

21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. King James Version

Isn't it strange that we have to wait until the 16th Century for someone to be able to write that verse "correctly"...........!?

And yet, we are to believe that the divine nature of his birth is one of THE pivotal events around which the whole myth rotates...!

But it's ok.....Matthew comes to the rescue and fills in the rest of the story.....

Thoroughly.....
Are you suggesting He came unto His Own, and they received Him not, at first? No news there. However, I doubt mom was thinking Jesus was crazy.

It states quite clearly that it was his family or 'kin' who thought him mad. Just a few verses later, it identifies who those family members were, including mom...!

Now, unless she had also lost her mind, she should have remembered that it was supposed to be a god that she had given birth to......and yet, here she is, amongst those family members who thought Jesus mad for doing his preaching about god...!

But this shouldn't surprise us.....Mark makes NO mention of Jesus' supposed divine origins....it lends weight that the author of this gospel just depicted Jesus as another rabbi. This view had to be altered, of course, in the later gospels and by later variants of the script....

It ain't rocket science mate....

Really...? Where is that promise made please...? If a god was 'dictating' it, why couldn't it be done right the first time...? When will we know that they've finally got it "right"...? How much more 'revisioning' will be necessary before Christians have the complete message...?

Joh 14:26 -But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Mom called for her son. She never called Him crazy! Not at all. It says this..

31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. 32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

Nonsense. The Almighty God, Father Himself directly spoke to say it!! John the Baptist said He was the messiah also!!!

" 7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him."
..
If God breaks open heaven and says this is my Son...could it be any more clear!!!!!??
