Hello everyone

I was talking to another person about the christian belief. He is muslum.
I get these questions all the time when I try to talk about the Bible and the belief of christians.

Question 1:

Why does the Bible have so many different translations. (ex: NIV/ NKJV etc)
Where as the Quaran has never been changed. They say the wording has changed every time it has been translated

Question 2:

The Bible has many contradictions. I dont know of a specific example but i hear this many times.

Umm...those r the 2 i get asked the most...please if any1 else has any other questions, please post them

Thank you

You can assure your friend that the Bible has not been changed with each subsequent translation.

With all legitimate translations, a team of scholars, covering such areas as languages and theology, working together using the ancient copies in the original languages.

The modern translations help us understand better. Words change over time in English usage, so for instance the King James version can be indecipherable in certain passages, unless you've been brought up with it and know it very well.

Is it true that the Koran has not been translated at all? How do Muslims who aren't Arabic speakers manage?

As for contradictions, there are things which on the surface appear to contradict each other, but they are not.

When a person is truly seeking with an open heart, is led by the Spirit of God, and perhaps by mature Christian brothers and sisters, pastors and study aids, these difficult passages are not insurmountable.

God bless, Susana

yes, contradictions are IGNORANCE. The Bible does NOT contradict itself. There are OT and NT contrasts, but thats obvious why, and bear in mind the Gospels are historical texts: They do have inconsistencies as with all historical texts, such as the events of WW2 etc.

The translations are different on the surface, but all translations come from the same set of original texts. Different translations have different purposes and meanings to people. The KJV was the first English translation and so people like to stick with that. The NASV is probably the most accurate, but it is not all that readable, so people often use that for quoting scripture, but maybe read the more fluent NIV for daily reading.

God Bless, metal.
