Musk tells Cabinet that DOGE email was 'pulse check' for workers, warns US will 'go bankrupt' without action

He also defended last week's productivity email to federal employees. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday in a press briefing that more than 1 million federal workers participated in the Musk and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) directive to provide a bullet-point list of their work accomplishments from the previous week.
"I think that email was perhaps interpreted as a performance review, but actually it was a pulse check review. Do you have a pulse?" Musk said. "And if you have a pulse and two neurons, you could reply to an email."
Musk said the task was "not a high bar" and should be something "anyone could accomplish."
"But what we are trying to get to the bottom of is we think there are a number of people on the government payroll who are dead, which is probably why they can't respond," he said. "And some people who are not real people... like they're fictional individuals that are collecting a paycheck… well, somebody is collecting paychecks on a fictional individual, so we're just literally trying to figure out are these people real, are they alive, and can they write email, which I think is a reasonable expectation."

You really couldn't make this up. Yeah, Elon. That's probably why. So you're going to tell us how many dead people didn't respond? Compared to the millions that didn't because they were told not to or they thought that it had nothing to do with you, seeing as you don't even run DOGE?

Was this lifted from a rejected SNL sketch?

Sure, that’s the reason. I think he’s trying to come up with bad excuses for his ridiculous email. I image there are departments specifically dedicated to payroll and would know who each check is sent to. He could start there. Instead he wants to garner attention with an email that caused confusion and uncertainty. But DOGE is really just a big show to distract.

This is obviously just after the fact reasoning. If that was his intention from the beginning, he would have just asked for a response, not for a list of potentially classified information. And he would have cleared it with the department heads beforehand.

But no, this is not how the USA does things under Trump 2. They only blindly shoot from the hip and then paint a bullseye whereever the bullets go.

So let me make sure I have this correct. Elon thinks people die working for the government and no one does anything? Does he have any idea how government job positions work? If one of my employees dies and I don't report it I can't fill the position and my teams work falls behind. Who in their right mind thinks this is a thing?

Trump praised Elon Musk and his DOGE team for reducing government waste and fraud.

Yet deporting a lot less illegal immigrants than Biden. Which was one of his highest priorities. He failed.

And failed yet again.

Anyone who thinks votes for that this hasn't been a dumpster fire of epic proportions is living in an alternate reaity. Thsy have lied to you on countless ocassions and you've been shown theevidence of that. Umpteen court cases show what a train wreck this has been
"Letters were sent out to people just to find out if the people exist, do they work…"
Letters? We've gone back to snail mail? But maybe somebody can explain how, from the millions of non responses they got to the email, how they sift those who thought 'Nope, not going to reply' and those who were told not to reply...from all these mysteriously dead and/or non existent people? It was was a galactically stupid idea.

What a refreshing change of Cabinet Meetings. Two plus hours of taking questions.
It's not a press conference. It's supposed to be a business meeting. Normally the most questions is a couple at the top before the press is put out of the room.

LOL, the American left is virtually crying bloody murder for the small amount of illegal immigrants that have been deported so far this year. The left wing liberal leaders in the various states are throwing up roadblocks against deportation. That is well known. The politicians and the media who are doing 95% of the lying and deceiving in the USA are the left wing liberal politicians and left wing liberal media.

The actual Cabinet meeting was done before and after the cameras were there.

Is that what you posted above in that hour-long video?

This video starts at the 23 minutes mark. The answer for the gold card visas can be heard within the next several minutes of that video. Howard Lutnick, the Secretary of Commerce, talks about the idea here after President Trump did.

No, they're pointing out that as this was one of the main reasons people voted for him, he's doing only what can be described as a pathetic job. And that's just one aspect of the dumpster fire his first month has been.

You know he has the worst approval figures of any new president? Well, maybe you didn't if you just listened to him. He lied about it. From here: Trump generously makes up an approval rating for himself, defying reality

“I had an approval rating today of 71 and another one of 69,” Trump bragged at the Republican governors dinner in Washington on Thursday. “I have not heard of those numbers before.”

He's never heard those figures at all. They are fantasy.
  • The latest national poll from the Pew Research Center found Trump “underwater,” with 47% approving of the president and 51% disapproving.
  • The latest national poll from Quinnipiac University pointed in a similar direction: 45% approve, 49% disapprove.
  • The latest national poll from Gallup also pointed in a similar direction: 45% approve, 51% disapprove. The report on the results added, “Trump’s job approval rating is 15 points below the historical average for all other elected presidents in mid-February since 1953.”
  • The latest national Washington Post-Ipsos poll also pointed in a similar direction: 43% approve, 48% disapprove.
  • The latest national poll from CNN also pointed in a similar direction: 47% approve, 52% disapprove.
  • The latest national Reuters/Ipsos poll also pointed in a similar direction: 44% approve, 51% disapprove.
Why do you keep listening to the guy? You know he lies to you. You know that as a rock solid, gold plated fact. I just don't get it. Why does he lie? And more confounding, why do you believe him?

This right here shows that you haven't been paying attention to hardly any of the fear mongering and crying and whining from the left wing liberal politicians in the USA concerning the deportation work being done in the last few weeks. Also, it is a well known fact that liberal governors and politicians in the USA have promised to do everything that they can do in order to hinder the deportation of illegal immigrants.
