The title to this thread is general to allow for for any topic for this category.

I'd like to start off by asking what is your favorite Christian artist or band?

for me, Michael Card. Maybe Keith Green. I haven't really listen to Christian music since the late 90's.

I do not listen to bands or artists. I normally listen to instrumental hymns. I can sing along as long as there is no one around.

There are some good Christian artists out there. Matt Papa is like a modern-day Keith Green. Lincoln Brewster and Chris Tomlin are pretty theologically sound. Shai Linne is definitely reformed.

And I like Chris LeDoux and Joe Satriani at other times. Plus some classic rock from time to time.

Mike,

I listen to music based on the style of music I enjoy. Here are a couple:

1. 'I'd rather have Jesus' (Jim Reeves). I've asked my children to have this played at my funeral.

2. 'When the roll is called up yonder' (Johnny Cash).

Hi mike,

Here's one of my favorite Michael Card videos on youtube:

I believe that he's a faithful servant and God has blessed him with some great praise music.

I will praise you til I die, El Shaddai.

God bless you
In Christ, Ted

Are they glorifying themselves or God in "christian music"? It is from the world, not from God.

How much of contemporary music in the church has the 'sound' of the world in it? I'm also concerned with the downgrade of biblical/theological content in the words being sung.

When everyone sings a hymn in church, notice that EVERYONE sings unto the Lord. Nobody gets to glorify themselves....it's all glorifying God instead. However, in "christian music"....it's glorifying the lead singer, drummers, guitarists etc.

To even bring satanic wordly music into the church.....the pastor is NOT feeding the flock/doing his job.

Amazing Grace was sung to a common bar tune of the time.

Oops.

No you do not understand. There is a difference between a lead singer taking all the glory and the whole congregation singing unto the Lord.

You need to make up your mind. :)

I do wish you would document your evidence that confirms this.

That's not the evidence presented in 'The Myth of Amazing Grace'.

Wow! I listen to the songs as the Holy Spirit leads, not the lead singer et al. If the Holy Spirit isn't leading, I'm outa here! Where does "satanic worldly music" fit in? Can you name some "satanic worldly music" that folks might be singing in church? Just curious.
