Dytone - Everything (ft. Amber Louise) [Future Bounce] (2018), yes a strange genre. This one has a mid-2010s pop vibe. Warning (ages 13+), video contains a still image of a person smoking.

There's something about this type of music that I like. It puts me in a whole different, more positive, mindfrme.

Ok I don't think many people would have heard or this music or group. Thats because they never had commercial success in popular music nations like the US, Australia, and England. They were mainly famouse in Europe especially Germany. But not German. They are actually a mix of Irish and American I think. Maybe some Spanish as they travelled a lot.

They are called the Kelly family and consist of 9 or 10 siblings singing. They travelled in a bus and liked like gypsies. But their dad got them singling and playing music from a young age doing festivals and busking.

They made their breakthrough in the mid 90's and from then grew in popularity around Europe and at their peak played to packed stadiums rivelling the Beatles.

I was shocked that I had not heard of such a group and showed at least for Australia we were cut off from a lot of good music. Of course we have the Euro song competition but that is just the tip of the iceberg.

I bought a car around 25 years ago and found the Kelly Family tape under a seat. This was their breakthrough album. I would not have bought such an album and I don't think I would have known them if not for this chance find. From then it has been a journey of dicovery up until today where the group has seperated and I follow their solo careers.

The bonus for me is as I have become a Christian so has Paddy Kelly known as Michael Patrick Kelly now. What I loved about the Kelly family was the harmonies of 9 or 10 siblings which sounds like a choir. As they are siblings their voices blend so well. Also as they are Irish their voices are almost like chipmonks and very keltic. When I first heard Paddy who sings a lot of lead I thouht he was a girl.

What I like doing is discovering new music. Its good that we can still find music we have not heard. Peoples tastes change and as you get older you may get into something different you never heard like Jazz or blues or even classic music. Thats the great thing about music it never really ends.

Anyway I will start with their biggest song from their breakthrough album 'Almost Heaven' called 'Fell in love with an alien'. Then a live performance at their peak. I will finish with a more recent solo song from Michael Patrick Kelly (Paddy).

OK I have another one. This time I stumbled onto this group while surfing youtube music. Nothing unusual. I was listening to some Led Zeplin and this band Greta Van Fleet popped up as a Zeplin soundalike. I think it was one of those singing experts critiquing the band and the lead singer Josh Kiszka voice as he has an incredible and unusual voice. Sounds like Robert Plant but also like Freddy Mercury and other incarnations lol.

Anyway the reason I put them forward as unusual is that due to the bands Zeplin soundalike tag they haave tried to reinvent themselves to be different. To create their own sound.

In doing so I think they have suceeded and though you can hear a bit of Zeplin especially in Josh's voice its very different. I hear a bit of Floyd as they have softened the rock and its more psychodelic I would say. Also some Indian sounds and a bit of Enya in there as well I think. But they have definitely carved out an unusual sound.

Once again I don't think they are that commercial. They have done pretty well in the US and Canada but more a cult following. Outside this I cannot say they are that big. Certainly not in Australia where I come from.

Anyway I thought I would play an earlier song thats like Led Zeplin not just Josh's voice but the guitar work at around the 3.30 minute mark. Then contrast this against their new stuff. I will play one of each as this will best capture the contrast of the music.
