Well, that is good that you have optimism in your fellow countrymen.
Don't confuse optimism for delusion; after a certain amount of refuse, you have to see humanity (or, at least a culture that grossly, vociferously, ignorantly and unapologetically presents itself) for what it is - spiritual and social dereliction with the hauteur of an Olympian.
I feel your pain but there are some things working for us, one, Trump can't do much. Secondly our economy is doing just fine, maybe better then ever, in spite of Trump. I do believe we are on the decline as a nation and while that is sad, it took Rome longer to fall then we have been a nation.
...
I really admire your resolve to stay confident in humanity.
Rome existed much longer than America. When I say America is about to fall, I mean exactly what I said. Rome fell once, and scattered. All real empires have fallen at least once - that is how you earn your bones, go through the sophomoric stages of being a republic/democracy, etc. It is almost inevitable.
The real issue I have with the
people is that it seems many are ignorant of this sinusoidal inevitability of an empire - and believe that America is somehow impervious to a fall. The arrogance increases with every folly, and the denial grows with every blatant infringement. An empire is due a fall; the "Phoenix" nature of the empire is what makes it great. America is a very young and haughty empire; as said "it sits a Queen, and has not been a widow."
I would love to be optimistic about the trajectory of the entire world, but it seems like humans are struggling to fulfill all of the prophecies that come with a change in an age/major shift in paradigm. I am not sure humans believe we can make real change without going through a cliche fire, or struggle. It is the inherent feeling of justification we need, and our most accessible forms of "growth" come from struggles in nature. We act like we know no better. And, if someone should claim they have a
better way, they are usually ridiculed, exiled or murdered.
If that cycle doesn't change, it will continue to be predictable, periodic and mundane - the trajectory of humanity.
