Mr. Jones was a very famous person. He lived in a neighborhood with all kinds of people. Rich, poor, black, white, young and old. He was extremely wealthy and could buy anything he wanted. He lived alone and had no family. There had been books written about him, so many people knew about him.

Some of his neighbors would occasionally stop by and check on him to see how he was doing. He was a very kind and loving, so everybody loved him. The people who would take the time to get to know him became close to him and would spend time with him often. It developed into a close family relationship. Those who had the time for him became his family.

He would do anything for them. He would buy them anything they wanted. He would care for them when they were sick. He would help them whenever they needed help. He was always there for his family and they never were in need of anything.

There were other neighbors who were so wrapped up in their lives, they really didn’t have time for Mr. Jones. Oh, they would stop and wave occasionally. Sometimes they would even stop and say hello. They thought they knew him because they had read so much about him, even reading his biography. But they didn’t really know him. Those neighbors who didn’t know him were suffering through all of the trials of life. Finance, health and relationships always seemed to be in some level of turmoil, unlike their other neighbors.

God is like Mr. Jones. He does not want you to be suffering. He does not want you to be sick. He does not want you to be poor or even middle class. He does not want you to suffer in your relationships. He does not want you to suffer stress, anxiety or any kind of pain. The truth is, He is a Father and best friend who owns everything and can do anything. And he wants each of us, his children, to have it all; Perfect health, financial prosperity, peace in our lives and a joyful existence. What father would not want his children to have everything?

So, why are there so many people, Christians, suffering through a life of pain and turmoil? There are some who believe that it is Gods will, their suffering. It is true, that there are times that God will cause or allow you suffering because he is trying and testing you. But, if that is the case, it will only last for a season, a limited period of time, not a way of life.

So why do these people not reap the blessings that God has for them? It is just like Mr. Jones neighbors, the ones who don’t have time for him most of the time. These suffering people will only give him one day a week. The other six days, they neglect and ignore their loving father. They believe that they know him because they have read everything that they can find about Him, yet they only know about him. These people will talk to him occasionally during their busy work week, but most of the time it is because they need something from Him. They don’t have time to stop and love him. They don’t have time to share their life with him. Occasionally they will do things that they believe are for him, but all God wants from them is for them to trust him and to love each other. They will say that they love, but will not demonstrate it through deed. Their entire lives are wrapped around their issues at hand and they only go to God when it is convenient for them.

Every one of us can reap the blessings that God has for us. What we need to do is to give ourselves to him COMPLETELY. Being blessed by God with his total blessing requires a consecration. A person must set themselves aside for Gods holy use. That is what consecration is. So, how do you set yourself aside for Gods holy use? Do you lock yourself in a room somewhere and wait for him to bless you? NO! To set yourself aside for him, you must give him your total being and make him first in your life over EVERYTHING! You must be willing to give up everything that is of value, for Him, if that is what He wants. You must live entirely for His joy.

So give yourself to God today. Do it not to be blessed, but to be a blessing to him.

God has a plan and purpose for each life. A place for the believer to be, a peice of ground, if you will, that the beleiver is to hold for the glory of God.

Christ did not look sucessful. He had no house, no job, no marriage, nothing considered normal in this life. His Father was pleased to crush him and we

we are no greater than the Master and it has been appointed to us to suffer for his sake and we are considered by our Father as sheep for the slaughter.

Most assuredly we may have the peace of God that passes all understanding and we have spiritual blessings beyound all imagination, an inner peace and spiritual prosperity, but our role, our assignement in the plan of God may not look prosperous, blessed or bountiful. Christ did not feel good when the flesh was being stripped from his back, or when he was being nailed hand and foot to the cross but it was the greatest spiritual triumph in the history of heaven or earth. Our cross may not feel good or look good to the world, the church or other believers but it is the only opportunity we will ever have to bring glory to God.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
