If there were no religions there would be no Atheists because not believing in a god is the default state.
People bring forward their religions and when ANYONE disagrees with that religion they are branded as Atheists.
EVERYONE in this world is an Atheist to some degree.
If you don't like the word Atheist what would you call someone who doesn't believe in your religion?

If you disagree with these statements please tell us why.

Your questions are simply definition type of question.
Religious people has to use a name for non-religious people. You don't like the name, fine, use your own name.

There is no degree problem. Even you are 1% religious, then you are religious. The problem, according to you, should be: how much religious? So, we should say:

Everyone in this world is a theist to some degree.

Well, let me clue you in on a secret: there are religions here -- welcome to Planet Earth.
People bring forward their religions and when ANYONE disagrees with that religion they are branded as Atheists.
Ya -- I even heard an atheist call an atheist an 'atheist' --

(Of course, we're not allowed to, right?)
EVERYONE in this world is an Atheist to some degree.
Either that, or 'atheist' is a binary term; meaning one is either an atheist, or he is not.
If you don't like the word Atheist what would you call someone who doesn't believe in your religion?
A mission field -- specifically a 'fool'.
If you disagree with these statements please tell us why.
Your turn.

That would be over 99% of the world's population then, your version of christianity being a joke to most of the world's christians.

How lucky you are to be born in precisely the time and place and among the small but fortunate community of people who have the correct religion. What are the odds of that? What luck!

99% of the world's population is atheist, is it?

Do you actually read what is written before replying?

Yes, I see the question, and it is very poorly worded.

Here it is again, and it's very difficult to answer properly:
If you don't like the word Atheist what would you call someone who doesn't believe in your religion?
The question doesn't even make sense, but I treated it as an atheist-only question to make it answerable.

And when your answer was turned around to show you how ridiculous your answer was you suddenly didn't like it. 99% of the world may not be atheist, but from the narrow point of view of your belief system they are all one mission field and all fools. That was the bit you didn't like.

Don't you mean if there were no religions we would all be Atheists because not believing in a god is the default state?
People bring forward their religions and when ANYONE disagrees with that religion they are branded as Atheists.
I brand as Atheists those who don't believe in God, not religion. In fact, Atheists brand themselves this way too, even though there is the hard brand and the soft brand of Atheists. The soft brand is open to truth, apparently.
EVERYONE in this world is an Atheist to some degree.
You cannot be an Atheist to some degree. You are either an Atheist or you are not. Just ask an Atheist. Either brand.
If you don't like the word Atheist what would you call someone who doesn't believe in your religion?
I like the word Atheist, but what does my religion have to do with it. My religion didn't write the dictionary.

In any case, I thought an Atheist was one who doesn't believe in God. If this is so then the Bible refers to such a person as a "fool".

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." - Ps 14:1.

Hope this helps.

I think this is the part AV1611VET doesn't like because it's so true, had he been born somewhere else he would now believe something completely different and that knowledge bugs him.
We would readily admit that had we been born where and to whom he was we would most likely believe as he does, which make his and everyone elses religion drop down to the luck of the draw.

You can just hear a Muslim saying: "I was born in a Muslim country to Muslim parents and was raised to be a Muslim but what I really wanted was to be a Christian".

You can just as easily hear a Christian saying: "I was born in a Christian country to creationist parents and was raised to be a creationist but what I really wanted was to be a Muslim".

If the job on a child is done properly the job stays done, creationists are living proof of this because even when the teachings run contrary to all common sense the religion is still doggedly supported and maintained.

With the exception, of course, of you guys who have been enlightened by science and now see the electromagnetic light of day -- right?

An absence of faith isn't often drummed into children. But then, being allowed to make your own mind up must be an alien concept to you.

Why can't you just acknowledge that in your case, AV, your beliefs are entirely determined by where you live.

Neeeeeeeew, my friend.

I'm an independent Baptist.

That means locality can take a hike.

You'll [probably] find an independent Baptist at Ice Station Zebra -- ;)

"Religion" is the default. By default, historical accounts are teeming with religious references only because reality exists and has emerged in the earth through what we term religion today. In seeking to flourish in an atheistic utopia, materialists have realized that they have to exterminate the past.

People bring forward their religions and when ANYONE disagrees with that religion they are branded as Atheists.

You cannot be an atheist and believe in God, no matter what term you refer to God with. What you are espousing here is Dawkins Doctrine.

No, they're not.

When a child is born, he is born saved by grace through innocence.

When he reaches the age of accountability, and has the chance to be saved by grace through faith, and rejects it, he is lost.

Later, should he say in his heart, "There is no God", he becomes an atheist.

(1) That doesn't make sense. If no one believed in a god, they'd all be atheists, seeing as not believing in a god constitutes the definition of atheism.

(2) Default state for what? Probably not for humans, given that you'd be hard pressed to find a historical human culture without gods.

When a child is born they are born Atheist.
Are they born atheist, or are they born incapable of having a belief either way? ;)

This persists until someone convinces them otherwise. Normally parents who force it on them or friends and peers who pressure them.
This is actually an interesting question. Of course the environment influences a person's religion (or lack thereof). But no child is completely free of such influences, so you simply can't tell whether they'd develop a religion on their own. I don't think any ethics committee would approve of the experiments, either :sorry:

Exterminate the ignorance which was prevalent in the past. By materialists do you mean people who care to look out of their windows and actually see what is going on?

I can see the above not sitting very well with very religious people who are so sure that their religion is the only game in town, do they never ask themselves why? I can see it's just chance so why can't they? they get the religion they are given and they get it wether they want it or not, they then run around saying it's the one true religion, it makes zero sense to me.
