We live by Scipture in tradition
Tradition determines how we can know scripture, otherwise it's a matter of being one's own personal pope
Not if you don't claim infallability for your opinion. I can believe something, defend and argue for it, and know that I might be wrong. I can even change my beliefs im I am convinced otherwise. Dogma cannot do that.
That kind of scheme doesn't do me any good, I want the whole truth.I think the most reliable way that God has made use of preserving doctrine is to give every denomination a piece of the pie to hold onto. And those who can't look and see the whole picture are wearing blinders.
Either 12 or 24. We must needs some tradition somewhere ! It's a big pieHow do you know how many pieces?
I want the whole pieThat kind of scheme doesn't do me any good, I want the whole truth.
Pilate wanted to know about that also at the trial of our LordThat kind of scheme doesn't do me any good, I want the whole truth.
And why shouldn't you? I believe I can have it, and rest in certainty that I have it.I want the whole pie
I don't understand what you're saying.
I accept my church as infallible, for a number of reasons.
I defend and argue for it because I know it is right
No, it means that the gates wont prevail. The gates of hell will not prevail against the Church -- surely this means the Church is infallible?
Why would God let the pillar and foundation of truth be something which is fallible?
Either 12 or 24. We must needs some tradition somewhere ! It's a big pie
I'm sorry, maybe I can clarify.
You said that sola scriptura, in effect, sets Christians up as their own pope, right? I disagreed, stating that Papal Dogma is infallible, so if we always recognize the fallability (though not necessarily the correctness) of our beliefs, then we have not become our own pope.
Levitical priesthood went out with Eli. We still don't have the Melchezadec priesthood no matter what tradition tells the EO. So that leaves us with denominations from fragmentations of what Jesus began.
Why would God use fallible men (the church)
to uphold His truth? Because HE gets ALL the glory!
I was being flippant. How did you arrive at a number (a few posts back)? (assuming you weren't being flippant)
