1 John 5:16If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

I John 5:16

Roman Catholics interpret this verse as being proof that there are two different types of sin: mortal and venial. I am having disputing that claim as it does appear to say that there are certain sins that lead to death and others that do not. Can somebody help me please?

TIA

Diane

This is not to be a place where you build up fire power against any other denomination. This is to be a place to discuss Baptist/Anabaptist issues, not try to tear apart other denominations.

Please keep this in mind.
