  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

well I used to believe the mormons becuase they were right about a couple things, but after learning about Joseph Smith being invovled in witch craft, and how they believe the mormon church is the ONLY true church, I just can't continue on believing they are a credible religion.

they gave me comfort, but I've found the same comfort in the bible, which is the real authority of God.

to be honest, that whole apostosy thing was a little ridiculas. believe it or not, I was willing to believe about anything they said, but I just CAN'T in my heart believe that the church I grew up in(baptist and nazarine) are false. I know the people of faith in the nazarine church, they are christs children surely.

I don't know nothing about apostosy, but here is my opinion on Mormonism:

I don't agree with what they believe, I don't believe God is made of flesh and blood..I also don't believe that God, Jesus and the holy spirit are all separate gods. I also don't agree on Satan being Jesus's brother...-_-

I also find it silly they think they can become equal with God and can become a god of there own planet themselves.

I am sorry but there is something about Mormonism that just rubs me the wrong way. They believe Jesus is lord and savior and I respect that and I believe that is a enough. I almost became Mormon myself when I was a young teen and even read the book of Mormon. These missionaries said they would take me to the church since there was no way I could get to it (My parents never had enough time and it was too far to walk) and they treated my mom badly and finally didn't come anymore.

Then another time the Mormon church went to my aunt (Who is a loving Christian and is a pastor at a church) and told her she was banned from the church and that she was of the devil.

I had a lot of bad experiences with them, my Grandpa is Mormon and his a great guy. I believe anyone who accepts Jesus as Lord and savior is saved. I forgive the Mormon church for what they have done to my family. :) (Doesn't mean I still don't disagree on 99% of what they teach)

The main problem with Mormonism isn't necessarily the behavior... that is a symptom of the larger problem.

The core of the issue is that, in a way, they are denying what Christ did on the cross. They have a verse that says something to the effect that "we are saved through grace, after everything we can do". This is works-righteousness, and contradicts directly with the Bible where it says that we are "saved by grace alone, and not of ourselves".

They contradict many of the essential doctrines, not just that one. Raymond has already stated several of them.

There is no possible way that Mormonism and Christianity are compatible. It is no surprise they would treat your mother and aunt in such a way, much less any Christian church (that is truly in Christ).

i actually think the mormons are right about how we were saved becuase of our righteouness, and that Christ is the stamp apon which God puts to all those who live forever.

they are however completely wrong about other things, important things. not only that, but Joseph Smith used magic to translate the tablets, magic is from demons!

I don't know if he used magic or not. But why would Joseph Smith need seer stones to translate the documents? All the prophets I ever knew never used anything for translation. God embraced them with the knowledge necessary for his work. Along with them, there would be no need for the golden plates since God should embrace him with the knowledge. Not like he was going to use it for proof anyways since no one saw them.

By what I read I guess the church still has one of these seer stones. I just don't know..The more I look into it the less sense it makes.

No they do not. Their jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. And this is the primary reason they are NOT Christians.

Mormonism is just another demonic religion founded by a demon coming as an angel of light to Joseph Smith. They worship a different Jesus.

They need our prayers.

:amen::clap: And that right there is all that needs to be said about Mormonism.

It really is a bunch of mess. I've always said , if you want to know about these "religions", look at their origins. Scientology, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witneses. It's some sci-fi crazy stuff.

Congratulations, guys! We won this battle. Whew... Mormanism can't get over on us. Nope, sure can't. They need to bring their A-Game next time.

A man believes what he believes based on the life that he has been given to him. You don't understand that unless you've stepped foot into his shoes and has seen what he sees. The people in the mormon churches can convince people their truth just as you can yours. That's a MAJOR problem... because who's right? Oh yeah, you are... because you read the right Bible and know that God is inside of you. You just know it. He's there. No for real, he is. But he's not in the hearts of ANY people of any other denomination.

The fact is, what you believe really depends on where you're from, what people you've come across, and your ability to critically think. There are people who will just as seriously tell me that I'm going to hell because I don't believe in Allah that you people will for me questioning your point of view.

I don't even think Scientology should even be a religion since they have no god they worship. Its just a big, dangerous, money sucking cult. Don't even get me started on Scientology :bigeye:

That needs a thread of its own..But seriously I think they are good people that are lost. Its really a shame since a lot of them are such good people.

Now that I think about it, Mormonism has a lot of cult features..People who are mormon aren't even allowed to marry people outside of mormonism.

Such cynicism.^_^ People in a relationship with Jesus Christ understand why His truth is absolute and everything else is a lie.;)

Very true. In most Christian circles, they are rightly identified as a cult.

about the mormons not worshiping the right Jesus, there is another theory. its the right Jesus they claim, but they don't really worship him, they just think they do. he never entered there hearts, for they are not born again.

Which is worse than just flat out denying Him. One thing to be ignorant, quite another to be a poser, a liar, a fraud.

I don't know if Joseph Smith was involved in witchcraft, but if you haven't read No Man Knows My History: The Life of Joseph Smith (1945), by Fawn McKay Brodie then you should. It is a well received biography of Smith authored by a neice of this man who was not too thrilled about the book.

I have more respect for you as an agnostic than I do a follower of a false Christ.

Okay, so what's His absolute truth? And then tell me what your interpretation of those truths are. And then tell me every little minute detail about why you believe that interpretation. And then tell me why anybody who believes otherwise is 100% wrong...

Because I can talk to a Mormon and they can do the exact same thing with Bible passages that you can. They can say that God is in their hearts and is moving in them. Anybody can! That's the problem with God... Man is the messenger, interpreter, and decision maker.

Yeah yeah yeah... God works through the Holy Spirit. That makes you right. Gotcha.
