• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey,

sorry guys, I dont know where else to put this but Im new to the board, so please be patient, ok down to buisness, my findings after studing angels of all sorts, demons, holy, whatever, clash with a bit of mormon theology that in turn could disprove the book of mormon to any "demon buster" around, here goes:

ok,

a verse in the book of mormon relating to angles and telling them from demons states

"If it be an incarnate spirit (like one of moses or a dead bishop), ask him to shake your hand and he will not. If it be a demon, ask him to shake your hand and you will not feel his touch, but if it be an angel of light, he will shake your hand, and you shall feel it."

Alright demon busters, whats wrong with this? A Demon can transfigure and shake your hand just as I could if I met you. This makes Demons out to be imbisils. They arent stupid. My guess here is a demon told Joseph Smith this, knowing that in turn, he would fool many generations to come into thinking that just becase a spirit can shake your hand it is a holy one.

Hi there!

:wave:

This will be moved to the unorthodox forum... that's where most of the mormon postings are placed...

but to answer your question.. from the D&C ...

Doctrine & Covenants" Section 129:
1
There are two kinds of beings in heaven, namely: Angels, who are resurrected personages, having bodies of flesh and bones;
2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
3 Secondly: the spirits of just men made perfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory.
4 When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you.
5 If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand.
6 If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear;
7 Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the order of heaven for a just man to deceive; but he will still deliver his message.
8 If it be the devil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not feel anything; you may therefore detect him.
9 These are three grand keys whereby you may know whether any administration is from God.

to align that statement with the Bible, there is only one reference to "angel of light" and that is in

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

I am certain there will be many additional comments once the thread is moved.
