  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So I am 15 and just recently became a believer in July of 2019. I used to be into new age (meditation, yoga, magic) and it was probably one of the most confusing times of my life. Fortunately, Jesus came and saved me from that time of distress. As I am over-joyed with this, I am also grieved by the fact that my parents just won't seem to bulge when it comes to serving the LORD. My mother used to be a Christian, but somehow her cousins have caused her to become an unbeliever a few years ago. My dad just basically follows behind her, which I find to be completely ridiculous; he should be leading. I have tried to explain to them that Jesus has truly changed my life, but she always talks about how it's a white man's religion to brainwash us. She now is into Egyptianism or whatever is called and I just really need prayer to get both of my parents to believe. It's been really tough having to live under someone else's roof and follow their rules while also trying to serve God. Sometimes it can get really discouraging. Please pray for my parents deliverance.

Prayers, Anthony!

For what it's worth, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, and most of the Middle East were brought the Gospel long before most of Europe had heard of Christ. White people needed to be heavily evangelized, and it was sometimes tough going for those sent to them.

So in no way, shape, or form is Christianity a White religion. Certainly not exclusively, or even originally. Christ is for everyone.

I was 16 when I came to know the Lord. My parents didn't know the Lord either. My best advice to you is not try to convert them, not try to force them because I know how excited you are, but rather just love them. Show them God's love. It is far more powerful then anything you can say. Show them Christ by your love, and pray like crazy. I am in my 40s now, my parents still aren't believers, but I have seen God move in their lives. We can't force them to come to know Jesus, but we can sure show them and pray for them! God bless, welcome to the family of God brother!

I just prayed for your parents souls. I know how hard it is when the person you love most rejects Christ and it’s very difficult.

I’m so glad you found Jesus and I know his plan is for your good, and he will take care of you if you seek and serve him!
Romans 8 has many good promises about God’s plan. :)

Sorry about your situation. We join you in prayer for them.

When you try to talk with them, you probably see their rejection. To me, this would be casting your care on God - they know where you stand, I wouldn't say anything else to them but I would continue to be strong in Him and pray.

This prayer is based on Scripture. Asking God to remove the blinders from their minds in the name of Jesus and flow them with His light based on "...for their minds have been blinded by the god of this age, leaving them in unbelief. Their blindness keeps them from seeing the dayspring light of the wonderful news of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the divine image of God." II Cor 4:4

Let me tell you a short, true story.

I became ill mentally ill in my early twenties. My parents passed off my stories of seeing people, including myself, healed by God as the result of prayer, as my symptoms. Not only stories of healing, but pretty much any result to prayer was a sign of psychotic delusions from my parent's point of view. So...

One day I snapped and prayed to God, saying, I want you to shut them up. That was the gist of my prayer anyway. I went out to my parents garage and prayed for it to rain on my dad on a very sunny day with very few clouds as he was mowing the lawn. It began to rain. My dad came into the garage, but had not been inside for more than a minute when the rain subsided. He went back out and proceeded to mow. I prayed a second time for it to rain on my dad. It began raining a second time. My dad came back into the garage a second time. The rain subsided a second time. My dad proceeded to mow for a third time. I prayed once more for rain. It started raining again, and this time when my dad came into the garage, he shot me a look as if he didn't know whether or not to be angry or afraid.

God is closer to you than your own breath, brother, and He has unlimited power. Peter healed a beggar by praying in the name of Jesus. Paul cast out demons with the name of Jesus. Peter and Paul were every bit as human as you and me, and just as real. You have that power, the Holy Spirit, residing within you as well. If you have prayed for your parents, the answer is well on the way. See you in the clouds :)

Welcome to the forum Anthony in Jesus name, it is a great place to be for fellowship with other Christians and support.
I pray for your parents, that they will be amazed at the change in you and want to experience the peace and contentment that you have. Trust God with your parents and enjoy his presence with you.

That is an incredibly inspiring story. Thank you for the realization. I must be so wrapped up in this I seem to forget the power of the Lord. Thank you so much and God bless.

I will pray, however you must be 16 to be on this site, so you should probably come back on or after your 16th birthday,

I agree with mea culpa that you need to be patient. The Lord deals with each individual and your primary goal is to become a strong and mature Christian or you will be in danger of losing it. I have relatives who seemed like rock solid Christians when I was just saved. Sadly, they have neglected it and no longer believe. We continue to pray for them, though. Join a Bible study group and pray for your parents’ salvation, which might take a week or twenty years. God wants them to be saved more than you do, so be patient.
