Well---I looked up "harlots" under the EGW writtings and came up with zero results---I got zero results for the word "harlot" also---however--Rev 17:1, 15, 16 And Rev 19:2 all mention the word "harlot."---
Who seeks to divide Christianity more that Adventists? Doesn't Ellen call non-SDA Christians harlots?
What did Jesus say was His mission?
Matt 10:34,35
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
This is not some love fest amongst ourselves we are striving for, contrary to the ecumenalists belief... we are to unite in truth and obedience to Him and His precepts.
Matt 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
This is not speaking of unbeleivers but those that profess to be followers of Christ. Notice it doesn't say 'some', it says 'many'.
Luke 6:46-49
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
Notice again, these are those that have 'come to Christ' meaning professed their love and loyalty to Him.... Christians. The difference between them is their obedience to His precepts and commandments.
You are right--free advertising--now I'll let you in on a secret--I am talking mainly about myself--I have degenerative disc disease lower back and neck, fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue, IBS, foot nueropathy pain that leaves me screaming and crying in pain, and if I walk, or stand too long, the pain is much worse, plus the mental fog with fibro--all this took my job and am now on disability and so is hubby--I have about zero patience anymore, when you've been in pain 24/7 for over 20 years, well, your nerves get a little fried. I can only spend so much time on computer. I really do hate debates anymore--but you are right and I should just suck it up and keep on trucking--it does keep me searching the scriptures all the more. I really do not know of any SDA's that are shy about quoting scriptures for our stand about anything. It's just that we read the same verses and come to different conclusions! Now--all those sheep out there in other folds please pray that this new medicine I'm using will work!!--At least that it'll make me less "snippy!" I've always had a warped sense of humor, but it has gotten a little less frequently "tickled" lately.
Ricker---you have a serious obsession with harlots and harlots--Get your mind out of the gutter! There are other 7th day keepers, one was an Eskimo, Maniilaq, who got the message long before any white man showed up--there was the Bounty mutaneers on Pitcairn isloand who didn't have anyone to tell them its sunday so they went by the bible--there were others during the dark ages--Waldenses--Oh--yah--have you checked out St. Patrick? You have no problem with keeping the other commandments--just the 4th. And no--keeping the sabbath isn't going to save you--that's a gift from God--but He has to know you and you Him, and "if you love me, keep my commandments."--I'd rather have God say, "well, it really didn't matter, what day you keep" but I sure do not want to hear"So---what part of Remember my sabbath day to keep it Holy, didn't you understand?" --Bummer.

Fire insurance is a bad way to measure truth.
I had an aunt that kept Sunday and Saturday for that reason.
But what would you say if God asks you why you put burdens on people He didn't place on them? There is a curse for adding to as well as taking away.
True indeed. The Devil always mixes some truth with his error, this makes it more acceptable. Speaking some truth however does not mean that you are being lead by God. So either Sr White was wholly being lead by God, or she was a liar, self-deceived, and working for the devil. No two ways about it.
Oh...ok. Still not sure how you made that leap, but it's cool. And we don't teach that other churches are Babylon. Scripture declares that there is one harlot (an apostate church) and that she has daughters (other churches similar to the apostate one).
I have a picture of Ellen White to submit.
We add nothing to the 10 commandments--they are what they are--it's everybody else that thinks God really didn't mean it. And thanks for the prayers---I need them!! Even my husband--not an SDA--actually not anything, he's started praying for me, too. And twice, after he prayed, my feet calmed down.

Thank you. That is Adventist teaching. Adventists have a bold message.
Now to the Adventists out there, why are you so worried about doctrinial discussion in your area with the Cribstyles and Pythons out there?
Either your teachings are right and folks will see it or they are not, and you can get on with your Christian life.
Yeah, and now after all of that debating, you are no longer adventist. Interesting that Sr White warned about such things being the result of debates. When I was an Adventist I loved folks dropping by the CF Adventist forum, as it was free publicity.

So I guess Adventists aren't being divisive by calling other Christian churches names (Babylon, or whatever), because you don't really believe we are Christians.
Just because there are historically people who follow Jewish traditions doesn't make it binding.
Ricker, do you mind if I ask you who you believe Babylon is? Who is the Harlot and who are her daughters?
Scripture never deals with heathen nations or false religions, but always God's own, and those who have gone astray. This is in house. So who are these individuals that Revelation speaks of?
Fair exchanges are not what takes place on this forum. One can only be told their wrong, after explaining what they believe, so many times before it's pointless to carry on.
So I should not have tried to discuss my beliefs with folks while an Adventist? No one had an issue with it at the time.Yeah, and now after all of that debating, you are no longer adventist. Interesting that Sr White warned about such things being the result of debates.
