  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My Favorite verse in the Bible:

Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible but I will not be mastered by anything.

What an ABSOLUTELY perfect way to summarize living!

Moderation is good in everything, yes, but ive noticed recently that people are so pathologically interested in sociality (if thats a word) that you kind of have to wonder how we dont realize it.

For example if I were to show as much of an interest in astronomy, for instance, as other people show in TV shows and myspace etc. people would definitely see it as an unhealthy pathological obsession. But they dont seem to realize that they are just as obsessive over a different subject.

Of course their arguement against it would be 'its not healthy, you should show more interest in being social', as if the answer to this obsession is to replace it with theirs.

on the plus side, unlike people who are obsessed with studying a certain subject, or playing video games, etc tend to forget to do all those wonderful little things like showering before going out in public. luckily we dont have to worry about this with everyone else.
