oh the UPC definitly are modalists, I am myself not, I am trinitarian, I believe in the Triunity of God

Jesus name doctrine is different than the trinity but I feel as long as a person gives themself to God He can and will use the gifts. There are so many different doctrines and if a person is sincere with God He will lead them and guide them in how they should go................ So I feel the gifts could be in operation......... I believe in the trinity and I believe Jesus is our door. So, then just because I believe in Jesus name, doesn't mean I deny the Trinity.

I agree. And I do not think that God pulls out a humanly devised theology book to validate who is and who is not a child of His. IOWs, if words like "trinity" and "modalist" are not in His book... we don't need to worry to much about them.

I do not know any "Jesus Only" People at the moment. But when I was in the military I had a friend who as UPC. He was very much on fire for the Lord, witnessed unashamedly for God and the gospel, and was filled with the Spirit and spoke with tongues. I was proud and happy to call him my brother. I pray I could have his boldness in the Lord.

I'm not sure where you're going here , so may I ask what your feeling is on the subject?.................. Sometimes because I use the name of Jesus so much I am called Jesus only!............................................................................ So, I say I am Jesus only, and I praise the Father for sending Him to us. Jesus is the only reason that we have a mediator...............So, do you feel if a person is Jesus only that they shouldn't post here???

Im trying establish whether a shared experience ,in this case 'tongues', is given greater wieght here than important doctrines.

Full Preterst like the Modalist affirm the diety of Christ yet the error is significant. Im interested to see whether a similar application will be made, ot if the matter is a much import here at all.

Im trying establish whether a shared experience ,in this case 'tongues', is given greater wieght here than important doctrines...........It is my thought that a lot of denominations put too much weight on tongues. This was present when Paul was dealing with the Corinthians.

I just learned of Preterst from a thread here in CF. It seems they believe the 2nd coming already occured..... From what I know of Jesus only they believe Jesus is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. When I asked a Jesus Only," was heaven empty while God was manifest in the flesh and if so where did the voice from heaven come from when Jesus was baptized?.....The answer made no sense to me. I was told this was an example (God saying from heaven, this is My Son in whom I am pleased) for christians today!.......... I've got off topic...............I think after a person is saved they could end up in a church with a false doctrine, but also God would be talking to their Spirit too. So I am sure that during their journey God would still allow them gifts

Modalism states that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are basically masks that God wears to manifest himself. They are not their own individuals. They are simply modes of God. This I believe is similar to Vishnu, Krishna, and Brahman, different manifestations of the same thing.
I think it is dead wrong.
