Not intended as mockery at all. I am not serious about the bread and honey, but seriously I beliebve that christianity ought to me less abuot "the world" and more humanitarian.

When I was homeless and down on my luck who do you think I appreciated more, the gamers at home or the charitable soup runs and missionary sandwich hand outs?

Which is why, even thoughth I am not christian, I still donate to my local cathedral, and to food banks...

You admit to being sarcastic, yet say it wasn't mockery. Okey dokey.

You realize that people can both be gamers AND support local charities, right? I do both. It's not all or nothing.

This is very short sighted.
I actually know vegetarians that are more knowledgeable about how to prepare a juicy steak then certain non-vegetarians.

I also know theists who would think on this issue in the exact same way as I do.

Indeed, I am one of them. Video games are just whimsy...escapism. If you allow them to influence your thinking in life, that's simply on you. Be accountable for your own actions.

Christians should be out helping the poor, and living off honey, bread and milk, not playing "video games".
Do you think that anyone should devote any time to leisurely pursuits at all or do you just single out video games?

If it really bothers you, don't torture your conscience over it.

That said, no there's nothing "anti-Christian" about it.

Life is simply too short to worry about these sorts of things. There are legitimate problems that happen in the world, people dying of easily preventable diseases due to a lack of sufficient medical care, people going hungry, injustices committed by the strong against the weak. Those are legitimate things that should bother us, not fantasy fiction.

But, again, if it's going to torture your conscience then don't put yourself through that. I just don't think it's worth worrying about because it's just a game.

And it's unfortunate that there are areas of modern Christian culture which get hung up on things so absolutely trivial that it makes people even worry about this sort of thing. Have we as Christians become so comfortable that instead of worrying about actual evil we need to worry about imaginary evil? There are people being denied basic civil rights in our own neighborhoods, that should upset us; not video games, movies, music, or whatnot.

I would suggest avoiding MMORPGs in general, mostly because they are addictive and can take over your life

I don't think that's necessarily good advice. The level of addictiveness of an MMORPG, or any game for that matter, is completely dependent on the person playing it.

^ This.

If you feel like anything, including a game, is negatively impacting your life or causing you to ignore friends and family, it's a good idea to avoid them.

But if not, then you're fine. Tons of people can play mmorpgs moderately. It's just entertainment.

Agreed.

I played WoW on and off for nearly seven years. But I was perfectly fine getting out of the game for six months to a year at a time, simply because I got bored and went on to other things.

I don't know that an mmo is any more addictive than any other hobby, and it's largely going to be the psychology of the individual that'll result in something like an addiction. But then I never was much of a hardcore player when I played WoW, I was never the one doing end game raids to try to get the very best of the best gear just for the sake of the best gear, that never seemed fun to me and so I never did it.

^ this. Ignore the advice of atheists on this matter - looking to atheists for advice on what is appropriate before God is like looking to vegetarians for advice on cooking steak.

I cook a mean steak, even though I haven't eaten meat in years. I also make a wicked grilled chicken Ceasar salad, and my wife makes an awesome Thanksgiving turkey.
