MachZer0 said:Clearly you did since I never metioned anything about Nevada.
I find it odd that we have a holiday for a man who plagiarized papers and speeches, consorted with prostitutes and anti-american communists two of our greatest presidents have to share a single day.
As we can see from one poster the holding of slaves by a president can be overlooked in terms of moral character but he is still expected to be celebrated. Why is that?
Part of the difference between Washington, Lee and MLK is that while Lee and Washington were slaveowners, it was perfectly legal. MLK, however, engaged in illegal activity by using the services of prostitutes
Are you saying if it is legal, such as in prostitution in Nevada that is morally okay to do? Is that the thread you really want to hang by?
I don't find anything inherently immoral about owning slaves. The immorality would come into play depending on how they were treatedmhatten said:No you didn't mention Nevada I did, that would be called an analogy.

That was the analogy, the comparison of the moral rightness or wrongness of legalized prostitution in Nevada to legalized slavery.
It seems to me that what you are stating is that since it was legal to own another human being that somehow makes a difference in terms of the moral right or wrong.
Make no mistakes both are wrong, in my eyes however I think the owning, and selling of human beings is a greater moral blight than having sex with a prostitute, but that could be my bias given the history of my people in this country. We are all subject to some form of bias.
there is nothing inherently bad about owning humans?MachZer0 said:I don't find anything inherently immoral about owning slaves. The immorality would come into play depending on how they were treated

I was pointing out the hypocracy and bias of the objection to MLK.

I don't think I-485 would have any such problem. MLK Beltway or Freeway wouldn't draw opposition there.
That explanation won't fly. Blacks are as racist as anybody else.
Everybody does indeed make mistakes and there doesn't seem to be any hesitation about finger pointing in other cases. I don't see where MLK should be any different.

i noticed that you had a christian icon. i have always wanted someone to explain to me what stormfront and the klan used to connect themselves with Christ. i never thought i would find one that would climb out of the closet and show themselves, so i am anxious for this opportunity. would you help me out by explaining how anyone with a relationship with Christ could reccommend a site that is as bigoted and hateful as the one you suggest we all take advantage of. of course, it is useful because many people have no idea that the heart can actually become as dark as the people who create such a site, or those that reccommend them. that is good information to have, as it makes one aware of how the evil one works, and how evil he can be.ShawnWong said:Good site on Martin Luther King Jr. Day: http://www.martinlutherking.org/

he said to love our neighbor. is owning a human loving?MachZer0 said:OK. I say Jesus would agree with me. Did He condemn slavery?
