Pre-TRIBULATION, "The Left Behind" fantasy stories, "secret" rapture as some denoms call it.

This theory also gives one the perception that there will be a second chance to be saved, even after Jesus returns the first time for the Righteous.

The church I was raised in taught that. No, they didn't teach that people sleep when they die, they taught the immediate ascension to Heaven, or descension to Hell.

Well, I can't speak for everyone (of course) but I was not raised Adventist, the reason I believe the way I do is based upon scripture soley. And while the scriptures do say there will be tribulation near the end it won't be 7 years long nor will anyone be secretly raptured prior to it.

I don't think we have any way of knowing how long or short the tribulation will be. I think it would be a good idea to be ready for Christ's return before the tribulation begins since we know that it is coming soon although we don't know when and we don't know how long it will last. I would be surprised if it lasts as long as seven years!

Seventh-day Adventists believe that the tribulation (we don't know how long it will be) will precede Jesus' Second Coming and that everyone living at that time will still be on earth (no pre-trib rapture). We also believe that Jesus' coming will be visible to everyone on earth (not secret) and that He will resurrect the righteous dead (those who have trusted in Him for their salvation) and take them to heaven at that time along with the righteous living. Those who have not trusted in Him will be killed by the brightness of His glory at His coming. Then we will spend the millennium in heaven while Satan is confined to earth with no one to tempt. After the millennium, all of the dead will be resurrected, and the final judgment will occur. The earth will be destroyed by fire and Satan and his evil angels (demons) and the unrighteous (those who did not trust in God for their salvation) will be destroyed as well--not tormented for eternity but consumed by the fire. Then the earth will be made new, and the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven, and we will spend eternity in the New Earth.

I won't post Scriptures here since you said that you are not wanting us to prove our doctrine. If you are interested in reading more, you can go to our official web site (link below) and read the fundamental beliefs (the last four deal with this subject); biblical evidence is also listed. For anyone who is interested, I am also posting a link to some study guides that go through the Bible texts and explain our beliefs.

True, there is no scripture that indicates how long the tribulation at the end will be as far as I can tell - I do know that EGW says 5 months but I'm sure even that is variable depending upon where one lives when the hammer comes down (so to speak).

The bottom line is, and I think we'd all agree with this point, is that historically God sees His people through tribulation, not from triblulation; and there is no biblical indication that He will change this pattern in the end days.

Forever doesn't mean the same thing as "for all eternity" in the bible. Sodom and Gomorrah, are they still burning today? No, they aren't.

While I believe Satan will be tormented a tad bit longer, it won't be forever, because the "lake of fire" is on this earth, exactly where New Jerusalem is coming down to rest on. The bible clearly states this, and it also clearly states that we will "walk on the ashes" of the wicked.
