  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Last night I read a children's story version
of the parable of the lost sheep to
my 5 year old daughter Becca.
When I read the part about the man's
sheep being lost, I asked her
what she would do if her sheep was
lost.
She said "I would get a dog".
I was a bit confused and then thought
how smart my little girl must be to
think that a dog could find a lost sheep.
So I asked her - "Oh, you would get
a dog to find the sheep?"
And she said "No, I would get a dog because
I don't want a sheep anyway - I want a dog."

We actually have 2 dogs and a cat.
I tried to explain the parable, but she totally
did not get it.
All she knew was she would not care if she lost
a sheep because she would not want a sheep anyway.

I thought about how we are all often that way
about God's word. We totally miss the point sometimes
and don't even realize it because we are looking at
things from our limited points of view rather than from
His point of view.

That's really cute. some of the things they say...

I taught my boys the same parable last year. It took them a while to put two and two together. people being lost and God welcoming them back w/open arm.

So I just eplained to them how they felt when they found something they had beenlookng for for a long time. How did they feel about finking it. They finally got it.
