Tell me again why conservative Christians are losing their cultural relevance.
i don't see why this has to do with conservative Christians, when something like that would/could/should come from any Christian of the denomination actual.

Will he next object to the names of the days of the week --- Sun's Day, Moon's Day, Tiwe's Day, Wodin's Day, Thor's Day, Frida's Day and Saturn's Day?
Makes you wonder why the bigoted anti-theists opposed AD/BC but have no problem with those in academia and government? Selective application of principle is a strong indicator of hypocrisy.

It's a statue. I'm not going to complain when a SECULAR building takes down a statue of ANY god.

But secular doesn't mean atheist. it means non-committal.
Yes but it also means an option of not including any statue in their. And frankly, well there are something like 33 million Hinu gods. Are you prepared to have all them lining all the walls of every government building?

It just seems a lot more easier and practical to not have any.

You keep telling yourself that.

The bronze statue, which stands 10 feet 4 inches tall, was originally placed atop the Missouri State Capitol building Oct. 29, 1924. According to the Missouri Secretary of State Office, Ceres was chosen to symbolize the state's great agricultural heritage.
She's just the symbol of agriculture. She's not a real god.

Tell me again why conservative Christians are losing their cultural relevance.

It seems that the common theme among many conservative Christians is "Religious freedom for me, but none for thee!" Many conservative Christians also tried to put a stop to the Satan statues too.

Indeed.

And if it's OK to put her on government buildings, it's OK to put up statues of, say, Jesus.
There is no contemporary worship of Ceres so the statue would not preference any existing religion.

What do you mean? Isn't putting her statue up a form of worship?

Besides, under her Greek name of Demeter, modern neopagan groups still worship her, as part of the "Triple Goddess."

I suppose we could have some civic Jesus statues if we pretty much universally agree that he's just a symbol... a relic from a defunct past.

But Ceres/Demeter isn't "a relic from a defunct past." Neopagans still worship her today, as part of the "Triple Goddess."

In this case, no. It's merely a decoration.

Well, I'd like to decorate government buildings with stained-glass windows of Bible scenes. And the 10 commandments inscribed on marble. That would be OK, right?
