Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"The two soldiers were killed and they were found in Yusufiya near an electricity plant," Major General Abdul Aziz Mohammed told a news conference in Baghdad, Reuters said.

Three more Great Americans are dead.

Three more families are in mourning.

Three more reasons why supporting this vile and unnecessary bloodshed is abhorrent.

We are in no danger from Iraq. Bring our troops home!!

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!

"We give the good news ... to the Islamic nation that we have carried God's verdict by slaughtering the two captured crusaders," said the claim which appeared on an Islamic militant Web site where insurgent groups regularly issue statements.

"With God Almighty's blessing, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer carried out the verdict of the Islamic court" calling for the soldiers' slaying, the statement said.

The statement said the soldiers were "slaughtered," suggesting that al-Muhajer beheaded them. The Arabic word used in the statement, "nahr," is used for the slaughtering of sheep by cutting the throat and has been used in past statements to refer to beheadings.

I'm certain that we'll soon be hearing the outrage from Amnesty International and other left wing groups. There will be calls for investigations, trials, and who knows, maybe the left wing organizations will even call for the insurgents to pull out their forces, cut and run so to speak.

We never should've went over there. Thousands of lives lost, and now our military will be spread very thin if trouble decides to come from either Iran or North Korea.

you could give them a tank i guess.

Tanks don't defend or control ground by themselves. They are themselves very vulnerable and can't operate in built up areas without infantry support.

Sorry for going all technical on you, it's the ex-armour officer in me.

Those rules have been ignored across the board since this war started, sad. Personally I'm upset that these soldiers were killed period. The Geneva Convention doesn't really matter in a situation like this :(

So if America captures enemy combatants and tortures them and beheads them immediately, the Geneva Convention would not apply and we wouldn't have to listen to the pacifists whining about the mistreatment of prisoners?

Nope. It was three soldiers. Your not going to catch three Marines by themselves in a war zone that were placed directly there by the command. You'll find a squad of Marines in an area(which is approx. 13), but not three. No less than 4 will man a check point, and they don't play around either.

I didn't read the article, but if it's the same people me and my fellow Marines were talking about yesterday then the leadership of those soldiers needs to be put on trial. How do you put just three soldiers at a checkpoint in the middle of nowhere?

It wasn't just 3.....there were 3 humvees and I believe 9-12 soldiers. It was a classic divide/ambush move. The mistake was the 2 humvees leaving the one behind to "chase" the attackers. You NEVER leave troops in that small of a number during a firefight. You stay together, form your wall, and call for support.

Why are you even bringing up the Geneva convention?

It has nothing to do with what's going on.
