It is impossible to understand evolution without comprehending it is a created trait. Also that it started only with created creatures. Anything you think you understand that contradicts that is a foolish fable, and you will not be able to support it here. As many lurkers likely will know for certain. If they are new, they will learn quickly that that is the case.Because it is important to know what you are talking about before you start running your mouth and begin to look like a fool. Even if you don't accept evolution, if you want to have a decent debate about it you need to understand it.
There is good evidence that we did. The mitochondria in our cells and the chloroplasts in plant cells have DNA structures that are unique to them, and differ from the DNA of the rest of the cell. This indicates that these organelles were likely independent prokaryotic organisms that were taken in by another prokaryote in order to form a symbiotic relationship (in this case called endosymbiosis, because one organism engulfed the other). This at least points to the evolution of eukaryotes from prokaryotes, which are almost exclusively single-cellular. (Endosymbiotic theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)I don't believe that every species living today has evolved from single celled organisms. I don't believe we (every living species) all came from the same original species.
No theory can be 'proven'. This has been explained to you, and understanding this concept is an essential part of being a scientist. Gravity is a theory. Germs causing disease is only a theory as well. But do you doubt germ theory? Do you doubt that microorganisms are a main cause of disease? I'm sure you don't, because there is vast evidence corroborating this theory, and it is tested and shown to be valid millions of times every day. The same goes for evolution. We test this theory every day, and it has shown to be workable time and time again. The theory stated above, can not be proven.
The evidence that the universe originated from a singularity is strong. I haven't time to outline all these theories for you, but put in the work on finding out about each theory. The evidence is compelling for each of them. Proof? Of course not. But they are the leading theories in their field by a wide margin, and thousands of scientists are testing these theories as we speak. The Big Bang is another.
How many times have you thrown a rock and it didn't come back down to earth? If your answer is more than zero, let me know. I've got a way that you and I can get fabulously wealthy. And then simple concepts like Gravity and composition of stars (as far as I know but I see no possible way of getting into the center of the sun to take a sample of it's composition). Aalso Black holes are a minefield of assumptions and theories.
And one thing to note here:
The fact that there is so much that I don't believe in or comprehend is a great part of why I want to put bullets inside my skull.
unemployed = no money = no purchases
Please don't think anyone here is "bashing" you. This is a discussion board, and people are going to disagree with you.And I stated before that no theory can be proven, and got bashed for it.
I don't really care if anyone here is attacking me, I mean I get that enough at home from my parents, even my grandparents. The internet is just my escape.
DON'T DO THAT!
You seem like a wise young man.
The Body of Christ is stronger with you than w/o you!
Omceer, it sounds like you're having a tough time at the moment. My heart goes out to you. You are young and searching for answers. Don't give up. Keep searching for those answers. The oppressive feeling you have from the attitudes, opinions and people around you at the moment won't be as stifling as you grow older. Go to university and learn about nuclear physics. Follow your ambition.
Do not give up.
They do. If an object has mass (or, more precisely, inertia), it has a gravitational field. This is a fundamental part of Newton's second law, and is required by general relativity. Have you had an entry-level physics class in school? They should have discussed gravity in that class, and if they have not, ask your physics teacher about how gravitation works. It's fairly simple and quite logical. Here's the wiki article about universal gravitation; it's a good read: Newton's law of universal gravitation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaBy gravity I meant the fact that EVERY single object in existance has it's own gravitational field.
Why would its size prevent us from measuring its composition? I admit, I'm not an expert in astrophysics (far from it), but we can measure quite a few elements and their relative abundances, including iron, chromium, calcium, oxygen, magnesium, sulphur, neon, and others. Here's an interesting explanation of stellar compositions, and it links to pages with more in-depth discussions of stellar composition: Chemical Composition of StarsAnd I know the part of what you said about certain elements emitting specific colour is true but take into consideration the size of the Sun, which is presumably small compared to other stars. How would we know that there isn't vast amounts of Mercury or Cobalt or Zinc in the center of it? The size of the star would prevent any evidence of these at all.
We're just making sure you understand why this is, and why it is not the problem that it is often perceived by laymen to be. I'm sorry if we came off as rude. And I stated before that no theory can be proven, and got bashed for it.
That's too bad. I hope you are patient with them. I know it can be hard.I don't really care if anyone here is attacking me, I mean I get that enough at home from my parents, even my grandparents. The internet is just my escape.
But you know that there is a lot you don't comprehend, and this will sound pretty cliche, but knowing is half the battle. When you know that you don't know, you're able to open yourself up to education. Learning about the world around you is, in my opinion, one of the most rewarding personal ventures in life. Heck, it's why I'm 25 and still in school. The more I learn, the more beauty I see in the world around me, and the more beauty I can see, the more I want to know about how our world came to be as it is. I hope you feel the same way, and I hope the only thing you put in your skull is knowledge. The fact that there is so much that I don't believe in or comprehend is a great part of why I want to put bullets inside my skull.
I am humbled by your compliment. I teach the lab portion of introductory geology classes at my university, and nothing makes me happier than hearing my students talk about how much they're learning. I hope you continue to want to learn, and feel free to ask me (and the other members of this board) whenever you've got a question. We're more than happy to help.Orogeny, you are one of the people that I look at and smile because they actually have some sense of sanity and intelligence, unlike 85% of the people I encounter every day.
Well, I look to the Man, and what He thinks. Is that OK with all here? It better be.How nice, dad. "Like flies attracted to dung."
Yes, AVET... you should agree with dad's sentiment about "flies attracted to dung." It goes well with your desire to see anyone who teaches evolution "tarred and feathered."
You both represent Jesus so very well here.
So, dad, anything that disagrees with your fallible interpretation of scripture is a "foolish fable." Correct? And you think the lurkers will agree with this?
Funny how you sound more like a Pharisee than we do.....Well, I look to the Man, and what He thinks. Is that OK with all here? It better be.
Mt 23:15 -Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Guys, we're getting a little off topic here, and I really would hate to see a threa like this close...
just because it'd get reposted eventually.
So please, a little less flaming & hating. A little more Creation& Evolution.

By gravity I meant the fact that EVERY single object in existance has it's own gravitational field.
Lie. No evidence for common descent exists in the minutest amount. None. Not beyond the descent from the common kind created ancestor....
We also observe a multitude of evidence for common descent of all the species on earth from molecular genetics, anatomy, embryology, biogeography and the fossil record and maybe other observations I am missing. The theory that explains this observation is evolution. It may be "only a theory" as creationists are fond of saying but it is a very well established theory. ...
The connection to man was admitted as false. How many times per thread do you pronounce it over, when you run out of steam? That routine from you is getting comical.I'd say the thread is done. Dad has provided no evidence whatsoever that the report of the fossil in question was a lie.
In heaven or the future new heaven state do not have mass as we know it. So much for your relativity! Relativity is relative. Relative to the present. They do. If an object has mass (or, more precisely, inertia), it has a gravitational field. This is a fundamental part of Newton's second law, and is required by general relativity.. .
Apparently some people can't register anything beyond the reality of the present. Everything else is 'nothing'.Dad, you're better at saying nothing than anybody else I know. Congtarulations!
