  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

Nice generalization.

Most Calvinist hate Catholicism because they have been trained that way and don't know any better.

Two can play this game. Its kinda fun.
Some even call ya'll "reprobates".

quote: Nicholas, it has posted numerous times on here, I don't think anyone here resents anyone for embracing the book of James as "canonical."
Yes it is in the canon, but reprobates put together the "canon." The "canon" as everyone calls it is an invention of men.

Nice generalization.

It's no generalization at all. It is a fact of the Roman system.

No problem as long as you understand that when you Romans make dogmatic assertions, anyone has the same right to make counter dogmatic assertions.

Understand?

I will humble myself before the ancient Truth, which the Orthodox, Eastern, and Roman Rites cling, before I will proudly proclaim for myself what that truth is (or isn't).

This, actually, sets us free.

 If ya'll didn't believe in the Good New, you wouldn't be called Christ-ians. Too many Christians take it more as "bad-news" for some reason. Can't understand that.

That is not all it says.

It also says you cannot be saved without the Roman sacraments.

Rome also says you cannot be saved without being subject to the Roman pope.

Rome has added so much to the Gospel over the centuries to the point of having turned into another gospel, as Paul said to the Galatians, which is no good news at all.

One day terry, and all the Romans, yule have to learn the difference between a theological criticism and argument and an "insult".

Just like the fact that God condemns some people to eternal damnation based on His own personal whim is a fact of the Calvinist religion?

You are entitled to your opinion.

Thanks, so are you. Fair is fair.

Fine by me. I wil continue to make Roman assertions and you will continue to make Calvin's assertions. Got it.

I dont know either. Calling people heretics for instance... Did paul do that? If so did he have some certain authority to do so...

Paul did not mince words.

When the Judaizers were adding conditions for salvation that undermined the Gospel of Christ by Grace, through faith, Paul called them "ministers of Satan", 2 Corinthians 11;

12 But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

As soon as Rome added that it was absolutely "neccessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman pontiff", Rome followed in the footsteps of the Judaizers by adding conditions that undermined the Gospel of Christ.

So why not focus on them more? ;)

Not in the man made Calvinist religion some people were created to burn, and that is their purpose.
Of course Christianity teaches that God loves all mankind and wants friendship between God and man
