Does anyone here own a minivan and or have a preference on a minvan make ? We have a Dodge Caravan and it's not been bad, but it needs some work now that it's ten years old and we're looking to buy a new vehicle and were thinking of going the minivan route again ....

I drove a full sized van for years, and loved it. I always said I wouldn't like minivan after having the roomy interior of the full sized, but with gas prices the way they are, I could never go back to one! I don't have a need for a van at all now, though.

When we first got it, we had 4 kids during the sumemr, and made trips to Nebraska while the girls were with us. It was great for traveling. Ex called it a People hauler. Which it was, but I wouldn't want to put gas in it anymore!!! That thing had a 33 gallon tank!!

We have and love the Honda Odyssey. Its been wonderfully reliable for us -- about 97,000 miles so far. One cool thing is the way the third row bench seat folds so easily into the floor. It works great for those times you only need seating for 4, but you have a bunch of junk to haul around.

Hi. We have a Dodge also--Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. It's a 2001 so it doesn't have the "stow and go" (or the DVD player, much to the kids' disappointment) but I like the way you can remove the seats. In general, I really like it a lot. Except I put it in the ditch yesterday. I was pulling out of a driveway and another driver wasn't giving me enough room so I tried to cut the corner and in I went. But I got it out by myself.

My husband doesn't know. But he'll figure it out, when he looks closely at the driver's side front, near the headlight. And he WILL see it. It's all scratched up because I hit some rocks. It's now five years old so we were thinking about replacing it anyway, with a Chrysler Town & Country. Those are pretty expensive, so we'll see. In the meantime, I better see if I can buff out those scratches!!!

I thought about getting a van, just to haul stuff around but found them too expensive on my student wages and the mileage isn't quite what I want either. I looked into a number of them; like Lee said, the Honda would be a good choice. Check out the Saturn Relay too, it might fit the bill.

Hi Pepperoni,

Yeah, the new Dodge's are cool with the neat toys. I'd likely lose my wife to the backseat with my daughter with the DVD system. And I do like to stow and go seats.

I've also looked at Ford and Hyundai so far. I guess maybe I should check out the Chey.

I forgot to mention head space is a big thing for me, as I tend to rub the roof of even the most capacious car. ^_^
