Minimum Wage - who was right

At work in retailing, a very successful retailer, a lot of pressure was applied by the public to raise the base pay.

It was raised to 10.00 per hour in 2017 and again to 11.00 per hour in 2018 and now half of us are out of work.

It's terrible how little you are paid in the US. Over here minimum wage is $19.84 per hour or $753.80 per 38 hour week (before tax).

The pay rate wasn't anything like as bad as getting robbed by the medical system.

I need a simple operation, it takes 20 minutes and about 45 minutes for the anesthetist. Cost is a minimum of 4,500 dollars.

They sure like to move money up from the working class to the upper class.

Rather than pay just for the op and then separately for everything else I applied for Obamacare in November. I was approved and paid the premiums for January and February and got the card valid from Jan 1.

On Feb 2 I was at a medical appointment and the card didn't work. The medical receptionist phoned and said the cover hadn't started.

What I didn't know about until recently is there are many people classed as EBD.

That is a special type of medical care I've been getting for 2 years now though I didn't understand what was going on, it is a large category which spelt out in full is 'Eligible But Denied'.

And now I know how it works. I get a random phone call that hangs up 3 seconds later. Those are not just junk calls, they are government administrators who can then say they have tried to contact me repeatedly and because I have not responded my medical cover has been terminated.
