There are also Christians who believe that true Christians are more Jewish than those who claim to be Jews but reject Christ, based on Romans 2 and other scriptures.

Just because a bunch of people believe something doesn't make it a fact, nor does it make it compulsory for others to act on these beliefs.

You haven't proved he lied. Just because some Jews don't accept Messianic rabbis, doesn't mean they don't exist (and therefore, doesn't mean Pence was lying). Just because some extremists didn't accept Obama as president, didn't mean he wasn't president. Bigotry is bigotry, but it doesn't change the truth.
