  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow Molly that is so fascinating! I know I'll have plenty of Braxton-Hicks later so I try that. I really believe that could work. You know, it sounds like those men in India or somewhere who would lay on a bed of nails or walk over burning embers and it didn't hurt because they trained their minds not to feel the pain. Cool...

Wow you sound like my wife.[reply to post #2] Our first child comes out in one hour. The second child was less time than that. The third child we got a midwife (Back then it was agents the Law to use a midwife) but we did it anyway. We did it at home I delivered the baby with the midwife Guidant’s. It was Great. By the time we had our fourth, they had past laws for midwives to practices in birthing centers very close to the hospital. The rooms were like a nice hotel room. By our fifth child we never mad it to the birthing center. We had her on the way. I would say go with the midwife.

PS. With hemmoraging. It would take 30 min for a person to bleed to death. And being at a birthing centers. Blood can be given within that time.

If you would like to know more about me and my family.

thats just about how far away the hospital is from the birthing center i was going to go to. the bleeding was so severe they thought they were gonna have to give me a historectomy. its a miracle they didn't. so yeah well if i would have had a home birth or gone to a birthing center i would be dead now. my daughter wouldn' thave a mother and my husband life would be destroyed (he would have had to move back home closer to his family and wouldn\'t be able to work in his field with out a BA). So frankly....i don' thave a problem with birthing centers and what not that are like 5 mins from the hospital but wher ei live....its just crimminal.

Torah,
That made me grin!
Yes, I think I would really enjoy sitting down with your wife and chatting! I bet she could teach me a LOT! ^_^

Thanks for posting!

To all:
I just wanted to quote this, though it's been said already:

This is not a risk, in other words, that you need to worry about when birthing outside a hospital...unless, of course, you are over a half hour from the place.

Our current home, btw, is about half an hour from the hospital (yes, I live in the boondocks). This is why we are choosing a birthing center (the "just in case" factor). :) But I'd WAY rather do it at home!!!!!!!!

Blessings,
Molly

So you delivered in the car? See that's what I'm afraid of! Were you on the side of the road? That must be quite a story!
Have no fear! We know where fear comes from. Woman have been doing this for 1000’s of years. We got as far as the birthing center door. Then! There she was.
I talked to and prayed over my children while they were still in the womb. And prayed for my wife. And my wife and I still pray for our children. We pray on a piece of cloth, with oil. And place it between the mattresses.

PS, A little humor.
When our fourth child was born, we could hear a woman in another room at the birthing center being very loud. And at one point she said. “OK let’s stop, I don’t want to do this anymore I want to just go home”. And her husband had to stop her from leaving the room.
