• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone would think you were avoiding the question because you are embarrassed to answer.
Ya -- I'm really avoiding it:

  1. Click on my evasive name.
  2. Click on my evasive 'View Public Profile'.
  3. Click on my evasive 'About Me' tab.
  4. Scroll down to where you see my evasive 'Fav. verse'.
  5. Look it up and see for yourself how "embarrassed" I am.
Here, I'll do it for you:

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

How curious. What does that actually mean though? Your faith means that you are the offspring of god? What happens if you don't have faith? You are suddenly "no son of mine"? Does this imply that you aren't made of the same 'stuff' as chimps, dogs and trees? Clearly not. We are all demonstrably made of the same atoms. It must mean that he has given you a soul. So physically you are made up of the same material as other life, i.e. you are a homo sapien, but you have the added bonus of a soul which is spiritual and not connected to your physical existence. How interesting. Yet a chimpanzee is conscious. It knows that it exists. It recognises itself in a mirror. So do orangutans. They have the concept of "I" in their minds. But apparently this doesn't allow them an immortal soul, which seems ever so unfair. One can exist and know that one exists and yet be just a beast and denied a soul and an afterlife, whereas you are special. What a strange god you have. What an arbitrary god. Almost whimsical. And cruel.

So what does this mean again? Children of god by faith in jesus christ. The more one thinks about it the less it means. It just means that if you believe jesus died for you then somehow you are special, despite the fact that in reality you aren't. You just believe a story, that's all. The fact remains that you are a distant cousin (literally) of the chimps and other apes and the proof is written in your genes and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. All the evidence supports this and you have to invent fantastic ideas about sin and satan planting the evidence to deal with it. God, you don't even deny the evidence is there, you just blame it on sin and satan. What a farce.

Children of god by faith. Well, good for you. Aren't you the lucky one to realise the truth of this great fact whilst so many billions of others haven't been clever enough to do so. But that's their fault isn't it. Billions of people. All their own fault. Because they weren't clever enough to realise that they were in fact children of god by faith in jesus christ. Whilst you, AV, were. Quite a thought isn't it?

Hate to say it, but if you're a YEC and you accept "microevolution" you're already going against God's word. He created everything in distinct "kinds," in other words, the chihuahua and great dane were with Adam and Eve.
Wrong. Chihuahua and Great Dane are different breeds of the same kind...dog. Just like black people from the Congo are the same kind as a white person from Ireland...human.

But hey, you can believe whatever makes you happy.

So "dog" is a "kind" then?

Is "wolf" a kind or are those of the "dog" kind?

Does anyone have a link to some sort of diagram for these "kinds"?

Please give a concrete and objective definition of "kind."

Can you say "cop out?" I have a better definition.

Kind (n). A living critter that has never, and never will, experience macro-evolution.

Okay, now give me a Creationist definition of "macro-evolution". If you can't, I'll give you one (actually, I did give you one in a recent post, but let's see if you were paying attention.)

Daily News and Analysis is the name of the website for which the journalist is reporting. It's not talking about Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
Nor was I talking about DNA when I was discussing fans.

Wolves are of the dog kind, yes. In fact, I was just watching a program on the breeding of foxes to create domesticated foxes. It was compared to how wolves were specially bred to create domesticated types of dogs. They are all still dogs though. Yes, wolves are a type/breed of dog...they are all canine.

Now expand this to other animals... have fun.

So what about birds? Are they all a part of the same "kind?" Not all birds can mate with each other. How do "kinds" explain speciation?

As the old saying goes: GIGO.

So what's going into you in order to produce this garbage that's coming out?

Like I said, tell that to those who shoved the gray scale in my face when I was talking the fossil record.

I was pointing out where you are wrong. if you don't like it, show me that I am wrong. Don't start acting like an immature brat.

You ignore virtually everything I bring up, and you're not getting any sympathy from me; but only because I think you're doing this on purpose -- as is Gracchus.

And yet you ignored my reply to your greyscale argument, didn't you?

I was born ignorant, and I'll die ignorant.

And the sadest thing is that you are proud of your ignorance.

If you want to 'grate a bit' on me, call me a Homo sapiens.

I'll do better than that. I'll call you a hairless bipedal ape. Let's everyone call him that.

Somebody has submitted two posts containing both of these statements and they currently occupy 76 and 77 on the FSTDT top 100. That's quite an achievement, though it does mean that dad's pre-flood gravity denial has now dropped off the bottom of the list.

Also, I see that one of Flatland's submissions is at number 5. Impressive.

So what about birds? Are they all a part of the same "kind?" Not all birds can mate with each other. How do "kinds" explain speciation?

Once you identify a number of distinctive features then you can call it a bird. There are various kinds of birds. Again they are identified by features, behaviours, things that set them apart. So a species could also be called a kind. However a species or kind of bird would necessarily belong to a larger kind having the features that distinguish it from every other kind and it would possess the distinctive features of a bird. I say necessarily so because I believe speciation accounts for the number of species we can identify, including the species that are extinct. The idea of speciation is that you can isolate a population of individuals from the main population and after a while they all begin to look alike. So theoretically the number of species you can get from a population is unlimited.

Abilities can be lost through inbreeding. We have flightless birds where the wings are inadequate for flight. We assume the ancestor could fly. However gaining the ability to fly is unknown. We don`t see flighted penguins.

The evidence for evolution is non existent. In order to show evolution you have to believe evolution is known. The evidence for this circular reasoning is shown when you say what else could it be as if evolution is a known.

Your problem is you have to connect birds to a larger population of non winged animals.
