Meth or Meth???

I never could understand the difference when people said " I am on meth " because when I got put on it for getting clean I was so upset that they would give me a drug that I could buy on the street and turn to that.
Then recently I just learned that " meth " is Crystal and the " meth " I'm on is a blocker of all " HIGHS "!!!!!
I'm 42 and didn't know the difference!!
(OOPS, tricked ya , I'm 43 after yesterday, forgot)
I'm glad I read a lot of stories here on subtance because it has helped me alot..

One is methadone, which is used to treat opiate addiction. It will block cravings for opiates and if you try to use opiates while on methadone you will not be able to get the "high" that you normally do from them. Methadone does not block cravings for anything other than opiates. It does not help with cocaine addiction or alcoholism. Only opiate narcotics.

The other is methamphetamine which is a type of speed that is sold on the street.

From your post it sounds like you have been prescribed methadone. When people say they are on "meth" they can mean either they are on speed and not in recovery, or they are on methadone and are in recovery. Just watch the way they are acting, and if they are acting hyper, and fast then they are on illegal drugs.

My ex boyfriend was on methadone. I used to hear a lot about crystal meth all the time on TV and didn't know the difference and it's confusing.
