They are separated cousins that will be reunited in familiar manner with slirituality and magic - once we get over our little "magic is stupid/science is king" enlightenment phase.
The state of the world now is a struggle because people have forgotten their history, and have applied a romanticism of life (enlightenment) while at the same time celebrating not knowing (agnosticism and skepticism).
This happens in cycles; this paradigm shift will juxtaposition spirituality with magic, as it were.
