  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

You have a last.fm account? Hit me up! My username's Dejeray.

I've been really digging Unleashed;s "...And the Laughter Has Died" demo lately. Really primative and poorly recorded at times, but it is just so good.
Yea, I've got one. I'll add you to my friends, bro!

my 2 favorites from your list are Rammstein and system of a down :)
Cool!

System of a Down have a really great style, the lyrics are all sort of "stream of consciousness" and I like that.

My MySpace profile song is "Mann Gegen Mann" by Rammstein...goes without saying that I'm a big fan.

Just ignore him. Everyone just ignore him, and he won't be able to make anyone mad. This thread was closed down last time because his trolling, and he's trying his best to get it closed again. Don't flame him or say anything to him, because if you call him out on anything, then he'll report you.

So, back to the Metal. I'm not a huge fan of Black Metal because of the lyrics and occult imagery and stuff. I would like to know your opinions on these things, because I think it would be a pretty cool discussion.

Yea, I know what you mean about black metal. I have to admit that I sometimes listen to black and death metal bands with some not so great lyrics, like Behemoth, but my main focus isn't really what they're saying but instead the way the music sounds. I love the harshness and dischord in it. I actually do try to stay away from the more controversial bands, but everyone has their guilty pleasures I guess.

At the end of the day whatever they say doesn't make me want to convert to satanism or anything like that. I know that may be a sorry justification to some, but it works for me.

You know, the black metal bands that sing about satanism and actually mean and support it, are a small minority. The cool thing about death metal and black metal bands is that they can make music about these topics, but are not serious about it all, except for the music itself. This of course also presents itself in the fans, and the many photoshops done of black metal characters:

I did those songs on my myspace with a 200 euro Yamaha Pacifica electric guitar and a Line 6 guitarport (device to plug the guitar into the pc, virtual amps) with the program Riffworks (to record songs on the pc).
I have a Line 6 Spider II 15 watt amp but I just use it to practise, never to record. I'm not really too fond of that amp btw, I wouldn't recommend it, although I will definitely recommend the cheap but excellent guitar.

I usually don't have any problem with lyrics I cannot understand, so most black metal is okay. Generally I am a fan of older metal, some of it mildly disturbing, but then again, it's what you take away that matters. Besides which I am a little bit too bright to take metal lyrics seriously

I'm seeing Dream Theater (with Redemption and Innto Eternity opening) in one week. I am pleased.
I would be more than pleased. Not only are you seeing one of the best bands in the world, but your seeing two other great bands with them! Haha! I would love to be you right now. Hopefully they play Octavarium, but I doubt they will without the orchestra.
