  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God, this whole "what-genre-is-this-band" thing drives me crazy!!

Besides, I thought the putrid refuse that bands like Staind and Disturbed put out was classified as "nu-metal".

If that's the case, then how could Demon Hunter fit into that category as well?

Or, am I wrong? Are Staind and Disturbed- and other bands like them- "nu-metal", or are they "mallcore", or what? :help:

I wouldn't call Staind and Disturbed nu metal. Nu metal would be System of a Down, Korn, etc.

Yes, they are nu metal.

Two different answers to my genre question. You see my problem, here?

nu metal sucks. Have you ever heard Crimson Moonlight pureindoctination? Very good Christian black metal band. Kekal is some decent (although sometimes lacking in production) progressive/black metal. DivineFire is some stellar power/melodic metal. Immortal Souls is some EXCELLENT melodic death metal. Mortification's early stuff is some of the best death/grindcore/thrash out there. I've yet to find some Christian Viking metal that's decent. Anyone know any?

Actually I do care. Sorry if that sounds "strange" to you, but to be blunt, I just can't and won't get into secular music NOT because they aren't Christian and not because the music sucks (because I've heard some GREAT secular metal like Children of Bodom and In Flames)...BUT because the lyrics are just empty to me. I need lyrics that are Christian-related or at least have substance to them in a spiritual way or about life or whatever. Honestly, music that lifts up God's name is the kind of music that I can get into because God is my life. What about you?

Listen to Thyrfing, Falkenbach and Bloodaxe. They are definitely not christians, but who cares+ It is the music that counts, not their religious beliefs.
No, I havent heard those bands, but I will check them out. Thanks!
to christians It should be religious beliefs THEN music

If System of a Down and (early) Korn are nu metal, I have a hard time seeing why nu metal is shunned for screaming/growling.
