I've noticed that some of the posters are in Israel. Wow, that's really cool! When I converted to Conservative Judaism in the '80's, they told me that if I decided to make aliyah to Israel, they may not accept my conversion certificate.

Has things changed in Israel now? Do they accept all Jews as Jewish now even if you didn't have a Jewish mom or didn't convert Orthodox?

Thank you for answering my questions; I am very curious about different spiritualities. :)

As a gentile and a permanent resident of Israel ( citizen in 4 years) I am very humbled that the Lord would call me to His chosen people. I didn't seek this position, because it looked too BIG for me. I always thought I was called to Africa, and even tried until the missionary told me I couldn't teach Jewish Roots. I am an evangelist by nature, but why would God use a gentile in evangelism to the Jewish people? That was until I met my wife... she told me if I wanted to marry her I HAD to live in Israel, no other choice. I heard the calling before I met my wife through a prophetic word when a lady I didn't know walked up to me where I worked ( serving in a restaurant) and told me that God told her to break her fast, come into this restaurant, and she would meet a young man called to Israel. So I knew my calling, but ran from it in fear. Thank God I have a wife that knocked some sense into me!!! Someone once told me that I have big shoes to fill, but be humble and let God fill them- you don't have to. Anyways, all that to say this. Being called to live in Israel is FAR FROM an easy calling. If many of you knew , even in revival, what you were being called to it would scare you off. I see so many people drawn to live in Israel and want to run for it, I give you the advice to take your time and let God send you in His timing otherwise ( believe it or not) you will be miserable. For those who've been on short-term missions or trips to Israel, its one thing to be in an organized, prayed-up, open heaven, tour or short term mission to Israel; its another to live there. I never knew what it meant to feel like the heavens were shut and have to "break through" until I came to live here. Anyways,

To answer the question about aliyah - Shinui is in the Interior Ministry right now which means this hyper-secular party is pushing to have both reformed and conservative Jews to be accepted for aliyah. It is a good thing and a bad thing that Shinui has some power, at one point it will break the back of the control of the orthodox Shas party's corruption and provide some freedom for believers; at another point Tommy Lapid spews out alot of hatred towards the orthodox which can poison the country. One friend told me ( don't take this to word because it wasn't in the news) that Shinui on one hand provides more freedom for believers in judicial freedom ( laws, aliyah, etc.), but on the other hand actually the only dealings he has with the orthodox is to step up the social persecution ( not on the level of law) of the believers because of his hate for relegion in general.

God is doing something here in Israel and let the whole world know it, it is going to bring 'life from the dead' revival for the rest of the world !

Another thing that Multi-Elis brought up that is close to my heart. Messianics suffer much social persecution in the land of Israel. Economically, it is hard to make it as it is with the very high taxes ( 40-50% for middle class) and very few jobs. If any of you wants to support messianics in Israel there is a site. Many people have done this and I have personally seen the fruit from my leadership who manage the site. I've seen numerous struggling messianic families ( both new believers and old) get on their feet because of this website. Check it out :

Why don't you people go to Israel? (It would solve a lot of identity problems - and create new ones. But who cares?)
Shalom M-E. I'm unsure the spirit with which you posted this. Could you elaborate upon your point, explain what you were trying to say?

If I understood your post correctly, then here is my reply:

Dh and I are discerning a call to Israel, but in our spirits, we know that the time for any calling we may have, to see it's fruition, is far off yet. We're merely following only as far as our Yeshua draws us, and our walk may lead us to Israel. Personally, I don't have any "identity problems" as you call it, LOL. I know just who I am, just where Elohim has me, just where I belong and to whom I am called to minister, and how I am called to live. I also know who I am not, where Elohim does not have me, where I do not belong, and those to whom I am not (perhaps, YET) called to minister at this time. I live a very self-examined (by the power of the Spirit and the washing of the Word) life, and always have (which is how I have come through every possible foundationally "christian" belief system and now find myself embracing the real Yeshua and His faith He founded, MJ).

So if you were asking a serious question (Why don't you people go to Israel?) then, there's my answer. I long for Israel, I intercede for Israel, I am drawn to Israel, but for now I do not (yet?) BELONG in Israel, not today and probably not tomorrow. Of that I am certain.

Zemirah, you answered well, in the last two lines.
About the identity problems, it seems to me that once a jew makes aliya, everything they felt in terms of identity changes. Being a jew takes on new meaning. While certain aspects of jews and their habits that are accepted and encouraged in the diaspora, suddenly loose their value in the new surrondings, and it's either a struggle to refind balance, or else the balance you always needed, depending on your case. I think this is both hard and healthy for jews, and how hard it is depends on the person, but it is always healthy. And if it is hard, who cares? It's worth it. However, other aspects of one's identity get re-afferemed, which is also good. So these are only two of the reasons that when I read these bords, I just wish you all with my whole heart that you make aliya, as soon as possible, but of course in the Lord's timing...

Of course, you don't see the connexion between my reading these boards and you (plural) going to Israel, but once you've gone there, had time to integrate, settle in a congregation, and feel really at home in Israel, then you will re-read the boards and understand.
