  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I really don't understand why the Jewish people are still waiting for a Messiah up to this day, not realizing he had already arrived. In fact, I went through much of it and Jesus does seem to have had what it takes to be the messiah when he was alive. All the requirements, etc. appear to match what he has done in order to be regarded as such.

When I used to be jewish, I brought this up in a synagogue to a jewish rabbi in a long discussion we've had about the matter. I remember he told me something like this, more or less:

"Jesus was not the messiah because the messiah must have done an extraordinary thing for the Jewish people that would give them their own liberty and salvation. Jesus didn't prove to be someone sent by God to become a messiah, rather, he claimed to be a messiah without any proof to his claims or actions. His crucifixion is meaningless and means nothing."

So, I don't understand why it is looked at this way. He also kept on to tell me that the whole New Testament is full of lies, written by ordinary people who did not prove the claims to be true, etc.

I won't go out of my way to convince every single Jew who the messiah is, but, it's still a somewhat frustrating thing they are still waiting for someone who had already arrived thousands of years ago.

What do you think about this?

First of all, Acts 21:20 in the Greek reveals that at least 20,000 (of what we know to be 80,000) Jews in Jerusalem in that day did indeed believe he was Messiah. But here is why others rejected him...

There is an ancient Jewish teaching that essentially speaks of two messiah's. One would be the suffering servant (Messiah ben Joseph) and the other would be the Conquering King (Messiah ben David). We now know the spring feasts pointed to the work of the suffering servant and the fall feasts point to the Conquering King. But the Jews were looking for possibly two messiahs... and so when they were living under Roman rule in the first century... they were not looking for the suffering servant, they were looking for the Conquering King. This is why SOME didn't accept him as messiah.

I would also suggest that God blinded ALL of Israel to certain truths and that in the process created two witnesses for Himself. You see, we testify of the God of Israel and the coming Kingdom through the Messiah while the Jewish people testify of the God of Israel and the coming Kingdom through the perspective of the Torah. We are really like bookends making the same statements about God and the Kingdom through two entirely different perspectives. One day we will stand as one... but today isn't that day.

Agreed..

They where looking for a worldly material kind of Messiah who would free them from Roman rule and make Israel the center of world power..

Oddly enough Jesus will establish Jerusalem as the capital of the world when he returns in His second coming.. The Jews seems not to have been able to understand that the prophecies of the Messiah would be achieved by the Messiah in 2 stages and that the messiah would be killed in between the two stages..

In the following scripture you will see firstly a living Messiah.. then a killed Messiah cut off from the land of the living as sin offering.causing the justification of many. Then after this being a living Messiah again being great and strong..

Isaiah 53: KJV
7 "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. {8} He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. {9} And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. {10} ¶ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. {11} He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. {12} Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

As others are responding here, it's possible for all of Israel to be saved. We have to stay in prayer :).

Ken Rank Of course Isaiah 53 shows the suffering Messiah. All you said agrees with my research, too.
So what we have are some elite who really didn't want their power taken away.... but most of the rest that rejected him were not rebellious against God, they were looking to be liberated from Rome. It is too bad with cloud context with a poor perception (and lack of understanding) of the Jewish people.

You grew up Jewish, you have a better idea than me of why Jews do not see him as Messiah.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest reading Dr. Michael L. Brown's book series, Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus. He was born Jewish, came to believe in Jesus as a teenager, and got his Ph.D in early Semetic languages. He has debated the Messiahship of Jesus with many rabbis. Realmessiah.com is one of his sites, that one centers on his outreach to Jews.

What do you think about this?
It is just as YHWH said it would be.
It is just as Yeshua Messiah Savior King of the Jews said it would be.

Thanks be to YHWH for His Plan, Purpose, and Accomplishing Salvation in Yeshua!
More and more Jews (hopefully) every day are turning to YHWH to learn from Him,
and will do so more and more until Yeshua Messiah King of the Jews
returns to earth, "soon". (don't try to put a date on this)

It "looks like" the door for the gentiles may be closed. Perhaps not. But in the untied states anyway, it seems not many are coming to Christ, and many are leaving the "churches" also, whether they were in Christ or not. (who can tell if anyone is saved?) .....
There are still fairly frequent reports of revivals in other countries though, even in so-called 'strong' islamic countries, of many (or some) turning to Christ and being immersed in Jesus Name ! Homefully this is entirely TRUTH! (I don't have a way to confirm it).... This is even though they risk death the same day, and they know it !

I believe it is written, after many are killed, (saved or not),
that when ALL ISRAEL cries out with one heart and one mind "BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME ADONAI! "
YESHUA MESSIAH KING SAVIOR REDEEMER COMFORTER CONQUERER returns to earth in that instant, sent by YHWH as written, and destroys the enemy armies and all their weapons instantly , at the last moment preventing the overthrow of Jerusaelm, saving His people for Himself as He Says He Will.

How many die unsaved ? unknown.
How many are left by the time they all turn to Him ? unknown.

What happens to His enemies? The enemies of His people ? Everyone who sought to hurt them ? They are destroyed.
