Hi

Do you sometimes think of the struggle between Jesus and satan ?
Actually, i personally did, before, telling to myself : i gonna help the Lord in this struggle, making a spiritual warrior of myself, or trying to resist everyday temptations.

I think i was pathetic in my pretending to help the Lord.
I think now satan has only one serious ennemy, Jesus himself, of course.
Without Jesus indeed i would be an easy prey for satan, and i can just pretend to try to become a less heavy burden for the Lord, not a helpman, it's obviously far too pretentious.

And you, non practicing catholics, may be you never fell into my pretentious ambition to help the Lord in the struggle, but what do you think, please, of this reasoning and belief of mine that practicing is necessary to lighten the Lord's burden?

I think that is sound because it doesn't come from any organisation and if you help one ordinary person (including people you don't know) you are relieving the sadness on Jesus that little bit and the way it works is your prayers especially regular prayers are sending good angels to help people (including but not only people in moral danger).

Bad teachers taught some of the "Reformed" not to pray because "influencing" is supposed to substitute (in the last 50 years). They were told praying is "unevangelical". I'm trying to drop hints about how easy prayers are and how massively beneficial.

People in the next world will thank God that there was somebody to ask Him to send good angels to help them. Or else they'll say they never realised we could have done and didn't - and guess what view God will take of that especially against those famous "leaders" who knowingly discredited prayer.

Hello OldAbramBrown.

You make me remind of the glass of water given to Jesus through giving it to his disciples or one of those little

I's true i used to tell my bids 2 or 3 years ago. I ought to resume this practice.

Actually, my questionning was more concerning sacraments than prayers. I see you are protestant. May be are sacraments some hollow things to you. For me, through my faith or whatever autosuggestive mind you might believe, i get the feeling strength spreads through sacraments. Through the Holy Spirit, too. It's a way to feel accompanied by the Lord, too, so that my place in the struggle against the devil is like this of a little pawn in a chess game, not this of the king, not incongruous. May be is it for the disciple as for the little pawn : When on the chess table (practicing), it participates to the defense, but when eliminated, out the chess table (non practicing)) the task is less easy to win the game

John 15:5: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing".
We are powerless without Jesus .... Jesus has ALL the power over satan ... Jesus will help us overcome the woes in our life and/or help us endure them.

The Lord don't need our help ... we need His help.

When there was prayer and belief, sacraments worked as part of prayer and belief, so it occurred to me. (Since then, I see they got turned into something solely organisational, except trinitarian baptism which isn't into a denomination.) It's in that sense that I agree with you. I try not to involve myself in "catholic" subforums these days.

I think this should be moved to general theology or OBOB.
As for me, i have no objection. Thank you Riley
Thinking again, after editing, may be it would be more opportune in General theology, if some non catholic christians are to be dissuaded to participate on OBOB
