I thought that had to do with prostaglandins in sperm causing allergic reactions in some women.
My mistake - prostaglandins, not pheromones. It's not allergic, though; as far as I know, uterine contractions are not a result of anaphylaxis.
Interestingly, prostaglandins are sometimes used to induce childbirth, so I guess it's that but on on a smaller scale.
