Would I get shot if I pointed out that as a woman she has no grounds for taking the title of "pastor" unless she is taking her authority from another, senior pastor? She's a widow, so she can't be covered by her husband, so where's her covering coming from?
Shot by who? The ones that think a woman can be a pastor under any circumstances or the ones that think no woman can be a pastor under any circumstance? Your position statement kinda skimmed the center there :D

Now you're goin' to get it from both camps, invest in kevlar my friend, invest in kevlar. ^_^

I agree with the post that described her as all over the place. If there is a point, she never seems to get to it. her main goal seems to be bragging about her knowledge of ancient languages. Also I believe she has had some rather "interesting" careers leading up to taking over for her late husband.

When I first found her on TV, I was like "whoa, this is pretty deep. She's got several huge wipe boards filled with 50 different translations. It must be great." So I started to watch.

She's a good example of 'can't see the forest because of the trees'. She's so into lexicon and translations that the meaning of her lessons gets lost almost immediately in the details.

I didn't get anything out of her lessons. I learned later that she has a questionable past, but I'm not going to fault her for the past.

I'm not going to hold that against her. I have more than a "questionable past," I have a deceitful, evil past. But look what Christ has done in me. How can I hold anyone's past against them based on my own? I know what kind of power is in Jesus, from personal experience. Read my profile.

I too found her show to be quite entertaining and thusly encouraged me to investigate further. Google is a big help but other search engines will turn up more. Of particular note are the legal proceedings involving a video production company that records indicate she was a co-founder. Add the name barbi bridges to the search string to concentrate results.

Her teaching creditentials are non-existent, at least that i can find, ditto for as much as a college degree from anywhere for anything. I also found some academic forum threads regarding her translating greek and hebrew. For a lesson centered around semantics of words and phrases it seems she is a tad off the mark. Close enough to be in the ballpark but not technically accurate. (at least according to the research I have done) One history professor in particular gave examples. Then again this IS the internet... who is anyone?

the $$$ issue, enough said.

I also turned up quite a number of broken and missing links online to articles and youtube vids that cast her in a negative light and several mentions of retribution for negative comments/postings. (at least according to the information I have found all over cyberspace)

It was also searching this topic that i was able to find CF in the first place and I'm so glad I did. A very happy result from otherwise time-killing boredom activities on the internet. I look forward to getting involved here and participating in various discussions.

Sometimes when I am up late at night, I watch Pastor Melissa Scott. I normally get really intrigued at first, and have interest in the origional topic. However, I get so lost in the linguistics that I normally forget the origional topic...

Her changing accent really cracks me up. One minute she sounds like she is from New England...the next she sounds European....then all of a sudden she gets passionate and starts sounding like she has a southern twang!

I do not judge her of her past. I have a past of my own. I notice however, that she has a legal team that is swift with removing all negative stuff on the internet about her. I find that intriguing, too.

I have mixed feelings about Pastor Melissa Scott. Lots question her credentials... I choose not to worry about all that stuff. I also see people worrying about whether or not women should be preachers. I have mixed feelings about that topic. I see where Paul said it should not be....but I never seen Jesus say it (if it's there please tell me). There are a LOT of significant women in the Bible who were teachers and gave accounts.

Melissa Scott baffles me. I don't know what to think. I wonder if she is really as fluent at those other languages as she tries to come off as... I would have no way of knowing, and that makes me nervous. I would enjoy her more if she quit with all that and just preached the Word...in English.;)

If were the bride of Chirst, then I must agree that no female should preach, but let our Husband, Jesus Christ, do the preaching regardless of what vessel He should appear in.

Ok, that confused me.....u agree that no female should preach.... but to let Christ do the preaching regardless of vessel.... so what if the vessel is a woman? (Excuse me if i'm missing the point, its late and my nerves are shot lol)

The point is that were His bride , female regardless of our gender, and Christ is the male in this relationship. In the resurrection there is niether male nor female and I assures you if Christ does live in you, you've been raised from amongst the dead.

ok, got ya....I use to be against female pastors, but I think I'm starting to have a change of heart. one more question, and i'll quit drifting from OP.... we wont have genders in heaven?
