Diamond saw Ivan and Carwain approaching them and tugged at Jack's arm pulling his attention away from Alex. Jack nodded, "I see that they're back. We can go now."
Jack turned and started walking off. Diamond followed but then heard Ivan call to her, "Wait, Diamond."
Diamond and Jack stopped. She noticed the others waiting at a polite distance, "What is it, Ivan?"
Ivan looked at Jack, "Can I talk to Diamond... alone?"
Jack frowned but walked a little distance away to wait for her. Diamond felt so tired she could hardly stand, "What's bothering you?"
Ivan hesitated, "I can't stay here any longer. I'm a fugitive."
Diamond blinked, "Why? Oh... that... Ivan no one knows but you and me."
"Sir Gerad thinks he knows and the wrong words in the right ear might mean the hangman's noose for me."
"But it's not true... what's this got to do with me?"
Ivan glanced towards Jack, "You're a fugitive now as much as I am. Just because you're not in prison any more doesn't mean you are free. Not while you are in this town. You wouldn't be that hard to find. After all, how many young women are there that have different colored eyes?"
Diamond gasped her hand going to her throat. It was death to all those who escaped prison. Jack appeared at her side in an instant looking at her worriedly, "Is something wrong?"
Ivan looked at Jack grimly, "I suggest you get her out of here as soon as possible. As long as she's here you're both in danger."
Jack frowned as Ivan turned and walked off. Diamond looked up at Jack tears in her eyes
What have I done? I've just pulled Jack to his death... "I'm so sorry, Jack."
