• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Then why don't you put your moneey where your mouth is and show us that the word used in the ancient Greek manuscripts of the biblical texts actually meant "small stick of an explosive nature."

Or the other way around, explain what you really meant when you made that claim.

Because that's not what I said, or meant, and I don't see how anybody could honestly mistake that. Then again, you guys manage to stupify me on a regular basis; it's like you pay no attention to context, and latch on to ...

It may not have been what you meant, it definitely is what you said. It's kind of hard to figure out what you mean, if you don't mean what you say.

So why don't you explain what you meant?

Hey, now there's a novel idea? Actually ask what somebody meant, instead of shoving words down their throat and ideas in their head, and then blaming them for the absurd things you put there?

Are you sure that'd be ok - even on the interwebz? I dunno, I better go read through the rules -

Ah, fooey on all that, it's late. I'll risk a paraphrased summary:

medical students boycotting lectures on evolution (the thread title, lest anyone forget) went MIA

Someone ridiculed one of Jesus' over-the-top sayings, of which there are many. In this case, it was the "faith to move mountains" thing

Dynamite was proposed as being better than faith

Last year's avalanche death season came up, after which I pointed out that the power of faith to move mountains is the very origin of the English word "dynamite"

Y'all started flinging poo everywhere like the primates you say we evolved from, no doubt to give credence to your claim

Aaaand ... here we are. No, I don't really expect any of you unbelievers to have made the connection, yet; but go ahead and prove me wrong

Thank you for your explanation. Two comments though:

I'm going to stop you right here. Because this might have been what you meant, it is very far from what you said. And from the responses it was immediately very clear that this was not what people thought you had said.

But instead of correcting them then and there on what you meant, you began whining (I want to be charitable, but I really cannot describe your reactions since any other way). The fault really does not lie with the "unbelievers" here, it rests squarely in your inability or unwillingness to actually explain what you mean.

Your explanation in assigning a biblical connotation to the word dynamite is still wrong, of course. The word dynamite comes from the greek dunamite (power), not from "the power of faith to move mountains". But that was already pointed out as well.

TRANSLATE: explanation or no, you will still steadfastly refuse to see the point. So why would I explain myself?

My problem was a really bad day. I'm sorry that I took part of it out on you.

The main reason I didn't let it go was that I was seriously p***ed off at you for writing that thing about getting paid. I spend a lot of time on most of my posts, not all of them mind you, the largest ones takes a couple of hours to write, and edit, to get my point across. I don't expect to get paid.
That you wouldn't take the time to properly support your position was, and is, annoying. A bonus would be that a well made post is something that you can return to, something that you can improve over time into something impressive.
I think the joke made by Freodin, post #187, demonstrates part of how I felt as well.

Cheers.

Do you really think they believe, in the same way that a believer "believes in Him?" You are doing really well at being dishonest in your attempts to twist and distort what is said. Why?

It's almost unreal the atteptms attempted in evading from the truth itself. In truth, I accompany the truth of all. Staright forward, one must accept that truth is all, seen and unseen. A balance. A pearl, no doubt, though a drive that must be driven straight. Works and faith are a fulfillment. Works and faith abide in balance itself.

Then show me an example of a person who moved a mountain through the power of their prayer.

(seriously, how can anyone think that mountains literally move because of prayer?)

Jesus walked on water and rose the dead and healed the sick and withered the fig tree. How many can still doubt that a rock, that is creation, cannot be moved. A rock can be moved in the glory of the Creator.

Thing is, we read a lot of crazy stuff on these forums and when someone starts going on about there being dynamite in the bible it's not a massive stretch to take that claim at face value. There is a reason why Poe's law exists.

Hmm, perhaps, perhaps. Is anyone willing to do a longitudinal study of their collective posts?

They're two different people. And yes, I've done an analysis of at least one of their posts - not once, but twice.

And was formulated on this very subforum at CF.

Extremism's and one's "fake" extremism's is defeted by truth itself.
An empty place is left desiring a division of possibilities.
