  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One thing that has been very clear to me in CF political forums is how both conservative voters and people who hate the President always post biased links or videos. Republicans usually post Fox, sometimes the Washington Examiner. Democrats post links to MSNBC, which is very liberal, and CNN, the Washington Post, The New York Times, and Politico, which also do more liberal than conservative reporting. It is clear to me based on my observations posters only read what they agree with to support their opinions. They want confirmation that they are right about things even if the facts prove they are wrong.

This un-Christian behavior leads me to wonder how CF posters can learn to accept all unbiased neutral news sources, which are nonprofit, nonpartisan, and staffed by political researchers who do fact checks. Those websites certainly exist and are simply not being posted on CF for illogical reasons. I want to fix that and show everyone what it really means to get all factual news on every political topicb

Good luck. I myself prefer conservative commentary and can't stand liberal commentary. As for finding a politically neutral news source, no such thing exists in the current media enviroment. Bias cannot be escaped only acknowledged.

The validation argument falls flat on its face when no conservative reporters can display evidence bribery, an impeachable crime in the Constitution, never occurred while at the same time unbaised news sources write about thinigs that prove bribery did occur on July 25.

All your sources are completely unbiased while all of mine are totally biased and can't be trusted. You yourself are totally unbiased. Thanks for sharing.

Many people think that. In reality, some websites strive very hard every day to report only the facts, not a cluttered pile of opinions from the left or right. People on both ends of the political spectrum need to be open-minded and just listen or read as if you never had an existing opinion before.

I found this site:
Media Bias/Fact Check - Search and Learn the Bias of News Media

I'm not sure how reliable it is but it has evaluated a range of media sources.

I don't even mind for a liberal news agency to be biased. What's troubling is how they seek to absolutly demonize anyone who disagrees with them. I see on Fox some favor Trump very much so but others shows on the network come across as fairly neutral or at least showing respect to Dems they have on for interviews. I'm sorry but I don't see any time on CNN where they even attempt to be civil towards a Republican or a supporter of Trump. Now I"d like to be proven wrong so please provide me some links of any CNN interview for example or NBC where they genuinely show any kindness towards conservatives, Republicans or Trump supporters and when I mean Republicans don't mention ones who have a history of being at odds with Trump. It's easy for them to be nice to them. So please provide me some links of interviews. I genuinely would like to see them.

But what are the biases of the fact-checkers, and the sources that the fact-checkers rely on? Are they looking at all the relevant facts, or only those that are relevant to bolstering a particular narrative? The rabbit hole goes deeper than a lot of people think.

Good fact checkers do not insert their biased opinions into articles that are meant to only be factual. They can be biased politically without showing any hints of it to readers.

Who cares about facts or truth when money can be made from the extremes?
Deregulation and ending the Fairness Doctrine was a boon for the media conglomerates.

The Associated Press is a nonprofit orgnization so it has no motivation to stretch the truth. FactCheck.org is a project at the University of Pennsylvania and therefore nonprofit since students contribute to it.

Being nonprofit is not the same as being unbiased.

Here is just one of several. Another would be interviews with Kellyanne Conway. I would loose my patience with her fast talking and not answering the question asked, but Cuomo does quite well with her. You can find those on YouTube, as well.

... how [can] CF posters learn to accept all unbiased neutral news sources ...

There is no such thing. Some may try to be unbiased, but they have to define for themselves what that means, and therein the attempt fails.

IMO, bias isn't always a bad thing. Rather, it seems the problem is more that America's worship of individualism has reached a critical mass of narcissism. Some public figures hide it better than others, but the last few years have brought it to the surface, resulting in bitter, petty squabbling.

The definition of unbiased in Merriam-Webster:
free from bias, especially free from all prejudice and favoritism, eminently fair

So news sources worth reading or watching are those that do not show any preference for one side or the other in their reporting.
