Hubby found a couple of his books in a resale bin in a grocery store today. I have heard of this author but know very little about him. I'm checking reviews on Amazon, but would be curious to know what folks here have experienced while reading his work.

I adore his books, myself. He's pretty conservative for most liberals, but I love his ideas on grace and love.

He coined a term that I love [paraphrased] 'God loves you right where you are, but doesn't want you to stay that way." about growing and changing to be more like Christ.

He's also an alum from my college, too, so that may make me a little biased. ^_^

I actually have a book of his, I bought it at this church I went to briefly for a fund raiser. I remember them making a big deal about how he used to be some sort of terrible person and then he found god. That might very well be, but it didn't make the book any less boring. I think I tried to read it once and just gave up, and this was when I was at a point in my life where I probably believed most of the things he was saying. I do notice now that he has a LOT of merchandise out there (I spend a good amount of time in the religious sections of book stores) CD's, "Study bibles", bags, journals, etc. I don't trust any book that has that much crap to go along with it.

From what I've read... kind of gushy & corny but well meaning. *shrug*

I'd have to agree, and very light. A friend bought me a book once but I only read a short part of it before tiring of it. Sorry, just my opinion.
