  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sounds like we could have a party. I could help Dayhiker repair the leak, I'm pretty sure we'd enjoy the coffee and-- that PC4 would make and we could all enjoy the repaired pool. Not a bad afternoon.

I like it lol. Just a few snags like distance otherwise it would be a go for sure. My son in law said he thinks he can put some fiberglass and epoxy to fix it for now so he's gonna take care of it tomorrow (I think). So all I have to pay for is a tube of epoxy. I can live with that lol.

Its funny I was thinking the other day, how well we all seem to get along on here, but I wondered if we would even like each other in real life. What do you think? Of course I already know I would like Peacechild no matter what.

Aww you know how to lift a soul don't you Michelle.. your really sweet... it would be different.. but souls are still the same.. just need to overlook the packaging or way someone comes across or doesn't... see the heart.. in life I am shy and if you guys were standing together talking I might not approach you but I want too.. I tend to stand back.. my hearing is not good so I am constantly making errors in what I say.. or miss someone saying something.. or don't want to say something because someone has probably already said it.. sometimes I just shut down and that is why it is easy to flourish online but even that has taken its time.. if only sometimes I could be the me online my whole world would change.. You make me believe I could do so much more though.. :groupray:

What are others like in real life.. offline.. thank you for being my friends.. I love you all..

I hope this is OK to ask because you talk of being hard of hearing all the time and on FB I saw you were listening to old music. Is your hearing situation such that you could hear at one time and now you are slowly losing it, or were you born deaf? Just trying to understand more about you. I hope you don't mind. I'd love ya either way, cuz you are a very sweet person online and I can't imagine you are a totally different person offline. Quieter maybe, but the same heart, of that I am sure.

No ask me anything.. My hearing was perfect up till I was about 21... and then it began to slowly diminish over the years and seemed to get worse as I had children.. I have noises in my ears also sometimes so loud I can hardly hear my own voice.. I can listen to my ipod ok.. but it is up very loud and the kids can hear it sigh.. My grandmother.. my dad.. my uncle.. my sister has it too but she is not as bad as me.. called nerve deafness.. I just accept it.. others struggle with it more then me because of course hearing is communication... I hate that more then me struggling with it.. that others are frustrated.. :(

Nerve deafness... so that even with aids.. have been tested recently.. I cannot hear properly all sounds.. so it comes out muffled.. I would need probably to get bionic ears.. cochlear implants.. or the like.. I just accept it... and flow where I flow.. I am not quiet when you get to know me.. kinda a bit loud.. lol.. cause of my hearing I can be speak a bit loud.. lol.. I just have to laugh about it..

Thanks for answering. I've never heard of nerve deafness, but bionic ears sound cool. Seems hereditery if that many members in your family have it. When my husband was dying he got really afraid of going blind (cuz the tumor was behind his right eye). There were times when he could not be left alone because he was fearful of being alone. I would be too. So I'm sure you are grateful for all that you DO have. If we lived closer we could hang out, wouldn't that be cool?

I have heard of nerve deafness, my Dad suffered from it as well as the kind that comes from loud noises.

His hearing probably started to go during his late teens/early twenties. He was part of a Wavy Arrow squad during WW2, then after he came back he got a job in a hammer shop. That fixed him as far as the loud noise loss, I'm not sure how exactly he came by the nerve loss but it might be from similar sources. In his last years he heard about every third word and understood maybe half of that.

I worked in the same factory he did for about twelve years, but in different departments. He spent his entire time there by the big hammers, I was in receiving/shipping and final inspection.

These days one of the ladies at the church I go to suffers from hearing loss. She lip-reads well enough, so in class she makes sure to be where she can see everyone who is talking and she holds her end of the conversation pretty well, everything considered.

I've noticed that I don't hear things quite as well as I used to, particularly my right ear. But its just enough so I can notice its different, not enough to miss conversations. Oh and the common complaint by old people that they don't like noisy rooms. I've just started to notice that.

No, I'm not getting OLD .... ya, Right! lol

I lip read some.. I have to see peoples faces and be quite close.. ha.. which is off putting for some if they do not realize you need to be close.. people have this personal space thing going on and you actually feel them pulling back or getting uncomfortable if you lean or move towards them.. quite funny.. I have to use my sight.. read someones body language.. expressions that kind of thing.. I know if I have not heard someone because I answer obviously the wrong thing.. and they get this weeird expression as if too say.. what!!!!

It is a whole new ball game when you cannot rely on your hearing.. the kids have adapted to using hand signals for things.. lol.. especially food and drinks if they want me to get them for them.. :D

The personal space thing is interesting .. most dogs will back up if you walk into their space .. I think its a way of saying I'm Alpha here. The dog who backs up becomes the submissove one. Don't have a clue what that says about humans .. lol

Someone put a round slab of cement in my back yard, so its going there. My tenants have a grill there now, so this will give us a place to BBQ.

No view from my back yard. Its moderate size for the suburbs. Its flat, which I like for a back yard.
