In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

mjm, ya, that's the way with most laws in an open society: honor system.

I do like the way they have the message board divided up. For the most part it really helps one find the people and topics that I am interested in.

Gwen,
Glad you could take a break from court and studing to post about your status.

WOW .. 3 yrs to get the divorce papers singed. God your down to the last 30 days. I would tell you to go out and get ... but I can't encourage that around here. hehehehe

Don't worry I had a great weekend this weekend...
had a great time with the bf, he made dinner friday night and we stayed in...saturday we snuggled and watched movies, saturday evening we went out to a play party... I wore my smokin' hawt boots which even my kitty apparently adores:
Boots002.jpg

he left this morning for his own side of the state...one of these days I'm truly going to have to make up my mind if I'm moving or not...:sigh: decisions decisions...

So yeah...we celebrated the nearly final status of my divorce...
in the process my iPhone got ran over...it apparently fell out of my pocket in the parking lot of a convenience store we'd stopped at for me to get coffee...go figure...
replacement arrives wed or thurs...so I'm back down to my blackberry for a bit...

ew!

Bug received an award at school this week for having a 3.99 GPA for more than 3 semesters at school and her name's been submitted to the Jr National Honor Society. One of hte first from her school to get that honor :)

Yeah...I'm a proud Mama :)

I spent the afternoon planting tulip and daffodil bulbs...and staring at the ground around my tree trying to figure out where the crocus were planted thinking maybe I'd put some tulips a bit further out than the crocus...but they haven't sprouted and I don't wanna kill 'em by accident so I've still about 60 bulbs left to plant out of nearly 300

I should have plenty of pretty spring flowers now LOL

Next I'll be putting in the "in the shade" garden under that huge tree...it's a mock cherry and it has a large area of shade to put a pretty greenery and flowery garden of shade loving plants :)

So far...taht's my plans...

I think...

Hi Gwenyfur... nice to see you..

Gwenyfur, you have "serious" boots! I'm already tall and don't look great in platforms - but, I still have my black suede/leather over-the-knee boots from 1987. :)

My weekend was a mixed bag - got stopped for speeding on the freeway. I was very respectful of the CHP officer and he let me off with a warning - I was very fortunate. Hey, my little 4-cylinder car got up to 78 mph....;)

That sounds like one great weekend... except for the phone.
hmmmm a play party ... interesting.

Meh...after the phone sat for a couple of days and dried out (it was raining) the stupid thing actually works...

The play party isn't something CF would approve of in thread LOL But I did have a *great* time ;)

I'm 5'3" so even in those boots I only hit 5'7" heh...
Though after 7 hours of wearing them my feet were a bit sore yesterday...

Ya, they make those phone pretty rugged. It helps they have almost no moving parts. I think the buttons are the only moving parts and when the touch screen is the buttons then I suppose there aren't any moving parts.

Wow that's crazy that your phone works! Well for me, at work, this week the vacuum is not working. Was like trying to push 50 lbs around that wouldn't pick up anything, and then the copier broke and it's so old we can't get parts for it. So my boss is going out to get a new copier today (YAY!) and hopefully a new vacuum soon too if this stupid little dirt devil isn't fixable. Our copier has been going out since I started here 6 years ago. It's 20 years old. Vacuum is only 6 months old! They don't make 'em like they used to.
Today my oldest son is getting his second tattoo (yikes)! It's going to be a peacock and I'm hoping it turns out good.

you're lucky Michelle...my oldest daughter is up to 8 tattoos now...
and 5 piercings...

the Marine corps taught her more than I ever really wanted her to know...now that she's a civilian again she's turning into a tatted pierced freak

ah well...she'll figure it out

Good luck with the copier and vacuum...I remember mom's old hoover she had when I was growing up lasting long enough for her to give it to me when I got my first apartment.

These days I buy a new one every couple of years...adn yes it's a vacuum year LOL

Ah well 2 more days until the replacement shows up LOL

I've had a pretty lazy day today...studying and aside from that I made banana nut waffles for breakfast LOL

Tattoo turned out really nice. Not like I really wanted but still it IS pretty and nice to look at and he likes it so...
When he first wanted to get a tattoo we made an agreement....He had to quit gaging his ears that were pencil size holes and agree to NEVER gage them again as long as I was alive and also NO piercings on his face EVER! He agreed. We talked about that last night while he was getting his tat done and he said he was glad that he chose tattoos over gaging and piercings. I just tell him to always THINK strongly before he gets whatever he thinks he wants tattooed so he has no regrets. He is already experiencing what happens if you do have a "mistake" cuz the first tattoo the guy spelled his dad's name wrong (its Michael and he spelled it e-a instead of a-e) and it is STILL not fixed and he had that done last September. It will be fixed in a couple of weeks but at least he learned what would happen if you get something you don't like how hard it is to remove it and how long it takes. It took 3 laser treatments just to get rid of two little lines. But that got him a discount on the recent tat, so it's all good and the guy will make it right and he felt so bad, but we weren't the best editors either cuz we were just excited about getting the tat until it was too late.

Ya, to get a reliable vacuum is about 1000. Which probably is about the same as the 300 they paid way back when. Almost 30 yrs ago I paid over 600 for a kirby that last for 20 yrs. My last vac I bought was a shop vac ... LOL

I'm really eyeballing one of those Dyson vacuums...they're about 400, but I have a friend who's had hers for 4 years and swears it's still as good as it was the day she pulled it outa the box ...

the new phone arrived today...a day early :D

yay!!!!

I have a Dyson. Not the ball one, but the one before that. It does work good, but the thing I hate about it, is it is too tall by the wheel part so that it will not fit under my kitchen cabinets to vacuum so I have to use the attachment to vacuum in those kind of spaces and my cabinets are not even that low. Also hard to get under like the coffee table cuz it doesn't recline all the way without the front coming off the floor so I have to move furniture alot which I hate. and the attachment is difficult to use for getting under the bed because of the handle. My bed doesn't have but about 3-4 inches of clearance so it's difficult anyway, but the handle makes it all the harder. I don't think they are all that for the money. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have bought one.
My boss is on the way to Walmart to get me either a Bissell or Eureka, or Hoover for under 100.00. I read up on vacuums yesterday and Eureka gets high marks from people that clean houses for a living. I don't even have to vacuum up much dirt here, so that's why I am surprised the stupid dirt devil didn't last.

Wow...thanks Michelle...
Though...I don't mind moving furniture...that's what my teenager's for...LOL!!!!

She doesn't vacuum when I ask (though strangely...her room's staying clean) ) so when I vacuum I make her move the coffee table, dining room chairs adn whatever else I decide I need to vacuum under...
(payback ;))

I shouldn't pick on her so much considering she does make good grades and stays out of trouble...but darn it...it's the principle of it ^_^

The boss got me a Bissell Power force Turbo bagless for 62.92 plus tax. Works pretty good. It's really lightweight and has great reviews on Walmart.com. It kinda goes forward on it's own so its not hard to push. So far so good. Which the cord was about 2 feet longer, but oh well, not a biggie. AND the filters are washable so that's another plus. Has a post motor Hepa filter too. That one can't be washed though.
