CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey dayhiker, glad you're having fun in the snow! Such a contrast to us, in the middle of summer! I weeeally dont like summer! Much prefer winter, but our winters arent as cold as some of you guys get in the States.

Mama, Ya, some of the places that are too hot to enjoy in the Summer. We got 3 more weeks of ave temps just above freezing. Then we will start to warm some. Will especially notice from noon to 3 it will seem warmer as the sun will feel warmer.

Hi Mama Dory! Yes, the North East U.S. Has had some bad weather. Here in Florida it has been pleasant for the past few days. Summers here are uncomfortable and we can get hurricanes. About what part of Australia are you in? I am guessing you might be north somewhere since you said you don't like summer.
I have listened to Radio Australia for years - they broadcast a mixture of Radio National, ABC and other programming. I am pretty well familiar with Aussie expressions. If some bloke says he has roo bars on his ute, I know what that means, LOL!

So the church service I normally attend was canceled Sunday, so I decided to go hear a lady speak who was talking about her connection with God. She had been a model in NY and Europe when she was younger. What had helped find a connection with God was the Course in Miracles. She spend 3.5 yrs studying it and learning it. then she had an out of the body experience that reminded me of what Paul said about being caught up to the 3rd heaven. Her experience with God and love had totally changed her view on life and brought great job to her life. But then she starts taking about her body from the ideology that the body is prison. She sees the physical world as a dream. So she gets somethings really right and some things she was out in left field as far as I was concern. I was so thankful for having the Bible to guide me. Yet even with the Bible it takes years to think thru what the Bible says and make it my own. So I guess I have to give her some slack for even being connected with G/god is a big step in the right direction for a person in the US these days.
There was one way she described her connection with God that I really liked and had almost for to myself. She used the word hear/felt G/god a number of times. I remember 10-15 yrs ago that I had a hard time deciding where to say God spoke to me of I felt God was telling me to do this. So I heard/felt God direct me to do this feels really close to what I'm experience in my relationship with God.
I use G/god for her view of God because I'm not clear as to who supreme she feels God to be.

LOL yes and no. Feeling under the weather today and I've had trouble sending an email to a vendor and of course our internet provider says it's not their fault and I cannot get ahold of the company that handles our email/website AND I'm tired of being cold and sick. My son is also sick and going to the doctor today after trying to fight off a cough for the past 3+ weeks.

Oh no...my oldest son went to sign up for the military today for reserves. He just texted me "Army didn't go well. Don't want to talk about it. [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]ed off. Not joining. Please don't ask me about it".
I feel so bad for him. He wanted this so badly.

That's too bad. It sounded like he had a plan all worked out.
The military may have cut its recruitment numbers with the budget stuff going on. Its harder to spend money were I work.

Sorry I thought I posted this but he DID finally get in! He got it to where he goes in May so he won't miss school and his second training is split to next year so he won't miss school. He didn't get all the perks he wanted but he's happy, so I'm happy for him. I'm happy that he really cares about school and not losing his scholarship and I'm happy he is getting what he wants as far as military is concerned. So yeah....it DID work out in the end. God is good!

So I got a new adventure I'm going on this Sat. I'm going to do one of those sweat lodge things. It should be interesting. I guess when we are in the lodge and the heat is up, humidity is high from the water sprinkled on the hot stones, that we put in with our intention. There are three rounds. Afterwards there is a shared meal. Something new for me. The lady who I'm going with has been doing it one a month for awhile now.

You coulda just visited Arizona in the summer. It's better than a sweat lodge, but you actually have to go IN when you feel overwhelmed by the heat which is usually in less than a minute LOL

Ya, that's one of the things that keeps me from heading south. While I've not spend as much time outside as I'd like to this winter, one can spent time outside year round here by dressing appropriately.

Well, I road with Lee Ann who ended up being the fire lady. What is a lot of work, but she did a great job for her 1st time. I helped a little too. Then we made prayer/intention clothes with bits of tobacco to put in the sweat lodge. Lot of symbolism. Then off to the sweat lodge that was just just about freezing with my towel. The hot rocks were passed in, the door was closed, almost totally black, water put on the hot rocks, temp went up. There were 4 rounds the sweat lodge getting warmer each time. Over 15 people from more than 3 faith groups were there to participate. Two of the rounds were prayers, was a blessing to hear the prayers desiring the Creator to help people and out world. I don't know that I will do this again, but I'm really glad I did.

I just now reading this. Make sure you pay attention to your hydration level after doing this. Make sure you replace what you sweated out. The older we get, the more problems even slight dehydration can cause ... particularly with our central nervous system.
PS...glad you enjoyed the experience. (however, it kind of sounds like camping in Houston in the summer...not my favorite season to live in a tent. LOL).

Just now reading this...and yes, God is good. I'm guessing that he will value the experience even more because he had to fight so hard to get in. Is his goal officer training?
