16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

sorry for all the trinity/non trinity questions, but verses like these stay in my mind all day...

Doesn't this show that Jesus and God are 2 separate beings? It said the spirit of God, not the Spirit of the Father.

John 12:30
Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not mine.

Yes it does show the distinction between the persona's of the GODHEAD. I'm one of those triune believing Pentecostals that have no problem with this section of text, or anyplace in the bible that shows this sort of distinction.

I cannot answer for those who don't believe in the triune nature of GOD.

Are you trying to understand God before you deem him worthy to be obeyed ?

I received the same Holy Spirit 21yrs ago and I know that he is able to give me a love, joy, wisdom etc that I could never get myself, or from any other man or "god".

"thedream", until you receive the same you are missing out, BIGTIME.

"as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God."

Some have explained it like an Egg, (Shell, White, Yoke)--I like to think of it as Water

Water is the substance (H20)

When frozen it becomes ICE (same substance in another form--with different functions like preserving, healing etc.)

When heated it becomes STEAM (same substance still different form has POWERFUL functions and can be used to propel or cleanse).

All three are from the exact same substance yet all three are perceived different and must be used in different forms to accomplish the desired task.

We cannot apply humanity to a Deity--Its hard to wrap your mind around until you realize there is SOMETHING "out there" GREATER than man. A power greater than ourselves. Begin to explore and seek this power and you will know it is real.

History validates the fact that Jesus was real. Now all you have to decide is "IS He who He said He Was or Not?" This is the most important choice you will ever have--weigh it carefully. Study, then choose.

This does not show God is 3 beings: It shows 3 aspects of God:
Father God
Son God
Spirit God

All are God (1 God) 3 appearances/persons within that God.

It's hard to understand (I still obviously don't understand enough to explain it).

When we think of this, we think they are all one person, as if they are confined by the limitations that we can grasp.

If anything, this explains that alto God can divide himself, to appear in different forms and multiplies forms, each form, is still God, wholly, none vying against the other, but unified.

Not sure if that explains anything.. really...

God Bless

What this scripture shows is that there a 3 divine
persons in God, God the father, God the son and
God the Holy Ghost.

When you get into it, the trinity is that there are
3 separate persons in God but there is only one
God. Its a mystery that no one one this earth
can explain. If they understand it or explain it
they do not understand the concept. Watch out
for these people that say they know it.

The "Spirit of God" is the Holy Spirit - the 3rd person of the Trinity. He's not the spirit of the father specifically but of the whole godhead.
