Mat 7:1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
Mat 7:3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
Mat 7:5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
(NKJV)
Mat 7:1 "Do not judge, so that you won't be judged.
Mat 7:2 For with the judgment you use, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Mat 7:3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye but don't notice the log in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and look, there's a log in your eye?
Mat 7:5 Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Mat 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Mat 7:2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Mat 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
Mat 7:5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
(NIV)
In regards to judgment in this passage, I tend to believe that many, especially atheists and non-Christians, misuse this passage. They tend to throw this verse in the face of Christians who follow Scripture about different hot topics in society today. Christians are against abortion and sexual sin and a myriad of other issues in society. But, disliking an action and calling that action wrong and sinful does not fall under this verse, IMO. There are two ways that I look at this passage:
1) We are never to judge someone's Christianity.
2) We are to be as Christ-like as we can and not be harsh to other sinners because we ourselves sin.
So, we should take care to know Scripture and be as close to Christ's example and other examples in the NT. We should call out others who do wrong, especially in the church, but we should be kind when we do it. We should not be persistent with our rebukes, as we do not want to push them away from Christianity, but we should be kind and place our inputs in well timed opportunities.
God bless,
Dave
